Imagine being one of our supporters and

- living through 7-8 years in a row of highest negative free kick differentials

...and deeply thinking it all through, and coming to the conclusion "yeah the integrity of the system is 100% completely fine."

Poor old vlosssy taken out of the marking contest non free was a shocker as well

Unrealistic attempt not a rule anymore?

Yeah what about that unrealistic attempt at mark that took all our players out of the contest 2nd Q...

Someone mentioned on our MB game thread that if Hawthorn get 23 frees today, then they will have got as much frees as our whole 2024 season.
Just wow.
we are third class citizens on the titanic

The shallow throw in was right in front of us and I was screaming to bring it back. That weedy boundary umpire cocked up another two that were half as bad but still not to standard.
The Durham unrealistic attempt was next level ineptitude from the blue maggots

every game should be umpired neutrally

the umpire and afl corruption and historical favouritism of certain clubs like colonwood needs to be removed

use faken ai if you have to

I realise this thread is not about fixturing, but there isn't a similar one discussing that annual clusterf**k as far as I can see.

Can someone possible explain to me, when the AFL are allegedly determined to maximise the quality of the product in the prime timeslots eg. Friday nights, why Richmond vs Norf would be fixtured on the previous Sunday lunchtime, while Collingwood vs Adelaide is the previous Saturday lunchtime?

This is not even a whinge of a Tigers supporter - W's and L's are pretty much irrelevant to us this year. If anything, the L's might end up being advantageous to us when the season comes to an end.

But why purposely neuter a team - especially one that had finished as wooden spooner and lost 7 or 8 of their key senior players in trade/retirement just before the fixture was done - and thereby reduce the quality of their very own flagship timeslot, by providing them with only a 5-day break, when it would've been just so easy to swap two matches at the same venue?

Dickheads.

V Adelaide yesterday, how did the teams respective key position players get on with the umpires...

Crows Walker, Thilthorpe, Fogarty, Butts, Keane, Worrell 8 free kicks for 2 against.

Tigers Lynch, Lefau, Faull, Miller, Balta, Blight 4 frees for, 9 against.

Our guys need to work on getitng pushed in the back a bit harder, getting their arms chopped even more obviously and being held just that little bit longer in contests, 10 seconds is not enough to constitute a free kick.

I’m so sick of this crap. But enough whinging, what can we actually do about it? Seeking ideas here please. Lodge a complaint with the [Human Rights Commission] or [Worksafe]? I don’t know, need some real ideas so we can get real change

For the record, the vfl umpiring today vs Geelong was probably amongst the worst and most one sided umpired games I can recall.

Umpire number 6 (IIRC) was pulling out blatantly wrong decisions from 50m out of his zone, mostly to Geelong. Ended up 32 to 16 Geelongs way.

But don't believe me - ask Michaels

Oh don’t get me started..

Today one of the rare times I swore and raged while on stream.

That was honestly the closest thing I’ve seen to dead set cheating

this isnt the game we grew up with

this isnt even the same as during our dynasty

campaigners running 35 metres out of the sqaure to kick out

picking and choosing chook lotto stand rule free kicks and 50s

certain clubs getting favoured week after week to an asterisk premiership

GTFO

the game is dead unless you fix the glaring issues YOU created CFL, because you wanted to stop a Richmond dynasty at any cost. well now you have ruined the game ten fold

every game is unwatchable. my neighbour a dumcampaigner alco that drinks balkan moonshine every day said the sport isnt the same as "5-10 years ago". he said its like rugby mixed with netball now

grass roots are either dead or dying

the ball is in your court

Richmond VFL has the 20th best free kick differential in the VFL for season 2025.

Last year, 2024, Richmond VFL had the 13th best free kick differential.

2023 we had the 7th best free kick differential in the VFL.

2022 we had the 21st and last best free kick differential in the VFL.

2021 we had the 19th best free kick differential in the VFL.

The site I am getting this from does not go back further but I very much doubt that would get any prettier from 2018 onwards, when Hocking arrived at the AFL.

AFL seasons 2017 to 2025 & VFL seasons 2021 to 2025 combined, so 14 separate and distinct seasons, Richmond teams have finished in the top half of their competition for free kick differential ONCE(VFL 2023). The average club would be 50%. We are 7%. In 14 seasons we have been in the top half once, and the top 30% ZERO times.

Not sure how Teish Shadwell and Vinny Naidu and the rest of our elite Tiger VWFL squad are getting on with the umps, but if there were free kick stats available I think we can guess the results.

It is blindingly obvious the umps are being somehow set up to be biased against anything in a Richmond jumper. It would be good to protest directly to whoever is responsible, but this may not be so easy to organise. Perhaps we could descend en masse at a VFL game and hold a very apparent, peaceful but loud protest there, just quoting free kick stats from the last 9 years for our AFL and VFL teams, and demanding answers. It would certainly put the wind up the umpires on the day but also attract attention to the issue.
