It seems to me this week in particular The Pies have been rather quiet. There doesn't seem to be any news coming out of the Lexus Centre (Even Leigh Brown fronting (By all reports) a large press contingent hardly caused a stir) and even the opinion pieces in the media are all about teams other than Collingwood.

This is rather new to me. I am used to going to AFL.com.au and seeing at least 1 link in their latest stories that relates to Collingwood. But nothing. This in my mind is a great thing. The Pies are finally just doing what is expected, winning. There are no random opinions to be had, its pretty set in stone that we are the 3rd best side in the comp and we are given a very good chance at winning the flag this year. No-one is willing to write us off and no-one is willing to really talk us up.

Has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon that is "No news stories on the Pies"? Does anyone think its necessarily a bad thing? Does it matter? It almost feels like respect ;)

I think this is a directive from the club regarding media attention.

Early in the year everyone involved with Collingwood couldn't stop themselves from appearing in the news saying what a "premiership threat" we were, and we subsequently started 3-5 and had egg on our face.

As Maxwell has said recently, it is important to keep all the focus on each individual game, and not let the media hype influence our performances.

This is the correct approach by Collingwood, and has to be a deliberate one in that.

I reckon after the last 3 weeks of "big" announcements and results any week is going to be quiet in comparison for some time....5-6 weeks time maybe then there might be a bit of stuff in the papers.:D
