In the same time span when Franklin has had 5 or more scoring shots the Swans have won 76% of their games compared to the Eagles 90%.

In games where Kennedy hasn't kicked at least 5 scores, the Eagles' are 8-23-1 a winning percentage of 33%.
In games where Franklin hasn't kicked at least 5 scores the Swans' are 20-13 a winning percentage if 60%

Provide me with stats or irrefutable evidence that Naitanui is the reason the Eagles win games and I'll listen and consider it. A poll amongst supporters who clearly have favorites is a waste of time

From round 14 2015 Nic Nat was our no. 1 ranked player (AFL player rankings) through to round 7 2017 when games missed cost him top spot. This year JK got up to no. 2 at the club. His highest rating.

JK has only had a super coach ranking higher than Nic Nat in Nic Nats rookie year.

Yes both systems have their flaws, but they capture a lot and reflect the eye test.

I though of all people a Carlton supporter would have a greater appreciation of a good ruck after Kruezers year...

You make it sound like I think NN is shit. I rate him as a top 3 ruckman in the league and probably in the Eagles' top 3 most important players.

I think though that you are really under appreciating just how good Kennedy is. He is the best goal kicker in the league and if it weren't for Buddy who will probably go down as a top 5 player ever, he would be hands down the best key forward in the league.

Naitanui definitely makes the Eagles a better team but not to the level Kennedy does.

Kreuzer has been important to Carlton mainly because without Cripps he is the only one who can get a clearance, although I would rather a clean clearance player than Kreuzer who just barges through packs and hacks the ball forward.

Our most influential player is a toss up between Naitanui and Kennedy. They are both great players, but back to the OP, there don't seem to be many examples of players coming back from a long lay-off and performing well in finals.

Any good examples of where it has paid off?

West Coast are averaging 0.7 less clearances as compared to last year, hardly a damning stastic especially when you consider their former clearance king in Priddis has completely faded into obscurity.

And how much of that is extra slack that has had to be picked up by other midfielders? And how does it compare as a differential to their opposition?

Their #1 ruckman for most of this year, Nathan Vardy, has been the worst lead ruckman in the league this year from a stoppage and ball movement perspective (clearances, tackles, 1%ers, inside 50s), and that's the area in which Naitanui excel (which makes the game easier for those around him), so there's a flow-on effect with everything the team does.
