Yup, it is the overused word in high school English.
The uni equivalent is "trope".
Hopefully I'm not that bad. I try not to use words to the detriment of being clear and concise... to me that's a far worse crime than a limited vocabulary.Nearly all of Caesar's posts contain these so called words...
'Labyrinthine' conjours up an image that no other word quite manages.
D) On a more pedestrian note, I love 'whilst' which IMO has been replaced far too much by the more boring 'while'. Mix it up a little, it's fun.
A favourite for the less talented, but better educated commentators out there.'Serendipitous' adds a whole other level to merely 'lucky' or 'fortunate'.
