that makes no sense what so ever.

We were West Coasts bunnies yet we choked?

2006 we were just extremely unlucky that Sydney beat West Coast at Subi for the QF.

From memory we went into the PF as underdogs. We had always struggled against West Coast.

2006 was very disappointing, but hardly a choke.

We did, we were at home with a healthy lead at half time, it was a choke.

Leads at half time are almost irrelevant in football these days.

I still dont consider it a choke. A choke would be losing to St Kilda in 2005.

2006 was different, the one team we didnt want to meet before the GF was West Coast and we did meet them and the expected outcome did occur, even though it was close.

Might sound like I am trying to make excuses, but in reality we SUCK agaisnt West Coast. Last year West Coas were $4.40 against us at Subi.

They thrashed us, and they finished 2nd last and I won around 100 bucks.

2005 it was an unexpected position with a coach in his first year, in 06 they really should have at least made the GF.

Put any 22 blokes in WCE jumpers and I get nervous. I also did well on those odds..............

Who cares about coaches. Go by the minor round results. We were minor premiers and we lost at home to St Kilda. That was if anything a choke.

2006 most people perhaps expected a GF appearance, but most people wouldnt have picked us to play WCE before the GF.

See what I am saying. West Coast were the one team we struggled with an we played them a week earliar then most expected. It wasnt a choke at all.

Infact I'd say if we beat West Coast that would have been an epic choke for them (they nearly did lose btw!) losing to Sydney at Home...then losing to Adelaide the one team they pawn...

and that year they won the premiership.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

IMO 2005 is understandable 2006 not.

I don't see how you don't, second time around in a better position, leading comfortably and defeat.

Surely you at least can follow that even if you disagree?

West Coast theoretically did better in 2006 as they finished minor premiers.

As i said half time leads mean dick all. AFL is a high scoring game.

I guess I can see your point of view a little bit from the game day perspective. But thats like saying Adelaide United choked on Saturday...
Realistically they were never really a chance, even though it was close and they did well all season.

Your lucky we are your puppies. Literally cost us 2 premierships.

I dont understand your logic but okay

Probably right, cos as much as we were the Eagles bitch, the Swans were ours, we could out-Sydney Sydney. I went to the 2005 GF and all the Swans fans I was sitting near were gloating about not playing us

I don't agree with that, they were the top 2 teams in the competition and previous matches are irrelevant. In the end the result was only 1-0 with Adelaide spending over half the match a man down, during which time there were a number of genuine scoring opportunities, one cross in particular that should probably have been put away.

Putting losses down to having a bad record against a particular team is a cop out.

This thread seems to have gone a bit askew. And how can anyone bring up the subject of going wayward without mentioning Nick Gill. Here is a player who was delisted by Melbourne without playing a game for them. That’s right he was delisted by Melbourne. Struggling for forwards he was then rookie drafted by North Melbourne. When the Kangaroos coaching staff realised that he would be lucky to get in one good kick at a Rodney King re-enactment they too delisted him. Even though two clubs had already dumped him for being a complete un-co he was quickly picked up by the Camry Crows in yet another desperate attempt to find anyone who can take a mark and a kick in the forward lines.

Often Camry Crows fans can be heard screaming “Gilly” when ever he gets near the ball. This is due to the majority of the mindless automatons just bleating like sheep because the person next to them is screeching. The very few Camry Crows fans who have half a brain call out “Gilly” not out of admiration but because like his famous cricketing name sake they hope he may just walk off the field.

Nick has only played in two finals for the Camry Crows which includes two losses … but true to form he did manage to kick 1 goal and 2 behinds in their 31 point loss to Collingwood in last years elimination final.

Nick Gill: 2 finals for the Camry Crows from 2001 to 2008 including 2 losses, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

48 Losers to go.

Had your hissy fit and cry in the corner, and yet you have returned with more of the same. Go back a few pages where your stupid comments were villfied and castigated...and think about it next time you choose to call player "losers.":(

His ego needs to be stroked.

I dont agree again. How can we say its a choke when we know we struggle against a particular team. A choke IMO is when you are expected to suceed but you dont.

Sure the minor round suggested we were the second best team, but we struggled against West Coast. They went into a game where they were playing away and they were favourites.

In summary we lost to the minor round winners, and the one team that we SUCKED against. and as I said before, if anything West Coast would have been called the chokers if they had lost.

Regardless the season was a choke, after 2005 we should have done better in 2006 than we did.

Under Malcolm Blight i'd say there probably hasn't been a better finals team in recent memory. He was a brilliant finals coach and knew exactly the right way to prepare players to win finals.

Neil Craig is a different kettle of fish.

Neil Craig is a different kettle of fish but Camry Crows supporters are also a different kettle of fish.

If Neil Craig were to leave the Crows and go back to his old job of pumping up bicycle tires for Charlie Walsh who would the Camry Crows fans want as a replacement. If one candidate had a win ratio of 59% but has never coached a premiership team and the second candidate had a win ratio of 63% and had successfully coached one premiership team. Who would they choose? You would think they would go for the second candidate but when you tell them that the first is Malcolm Blight after one year at North and six years at Geelong, while the second is Mark Williams after his first seven years at Port, they would no doubt take the guy who has not won a premiership.

In fact Blighty’s overall coaching record is worse than Craigy’s. But then again Blighty didn’t have the constant threat of fans turning feral and sacking him, so Craig has to concentrate on winning every game at the expense of finals.

Blighty was also the last player to Captain-Coach a team as he did unsuccessfully for North Melbourne in 1981. Speaking of Captains and Coaches, Mark Bickley was captain of the Camry Crows and is now on the coaching panel. Between 2001 and 2008 Bickley played in 3 finals for 2 losses. If he was proper leadership material he would have played in 4 or more finals in this period. But due to ill discipline, a vicious sniping attitude and a deliberately stray elbow he missed out on the finals in 2002. Mark Bickley could have captained his team to three premierships but late in his career when leadership was truly required he went missing.

Mark Bickley: 3 finals for the Camry Crows from 2001 to 2008 including 2 losses, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

Yeah that makes sense:confused:........I sometimes think your actually a very jaded Sydney supporter, with your logic that losing games is somehow good.

In a monthe time every one of these stats will be forgotten. But 119 lives forever. Your cheersquad get to re-live it every game when they sit in that Bay.

Which Bay is that? Not Holdfast Bay, I hope? Because when I think of Holdfast Bay I think of the Bays, that is the Glenelg Football Club. And when I think of the Glenelg FC I think of many things including lots of lost SANFL Grand Finals, a club that was once relevant and is now totally irrelevant and KG constantly mispronouncing it “Genelg”.

I also think of many AFL players including Matthew Bode. Having debuted for Port Adelaide in 1998 Bode struggled to get a game with Port. He was traded to the Camry Crows, who were in search for an effective small forward, in 2000 for pick # 12. Port used this pick to secure All-Australian player Shaun Burgoyne. The Camry Crows recruitment staff have been eternally praised for their astuteness when it comes to this trade, mostly by Port supporters, but praised nonetheless.

Edited ...coz I wantd to.
Please don't tell me you hit on him?

Hit??!!?? When I hear the word hit I think of Mark Ricciuto running through the pack with his elbow raised and Adam Selwood in his path. A skill he no doubt learnt from his previous captain.

If not for his ill disciplined attitude he could have joined greats such as Collier, Cordner, Coventry, Hird, Judd, Reynolds and Voss as Brownlow Medallists who have captained their teams to premierships. But alas he remains in the same company as Shane Woewodin and Tony Liberatore.

Wow, thats actually impressive, you did a lot of research on that hey, well done.

What else do you do with your weekends?

Well done, you say. That’s how I like my steaks cooked. I hate it when the chef burns it. Speaking of Burns, Ronnie Burns only played two seasons for the Camry Crows. In yet another vain attempt to find someone who can kick goals the Camry Crows recruited Burns who failed to deliver. However at 50%, he does have one of the best finals records for the Camry Crows for the period.
