Just heard from a friend of the family who know's a nurse at the Geelong Hospital, and from all reports he isnt looking too good and is Fighting for his life. I havent got much more information on it as it is not supposed to be public knowledge. But the news isnt good and all indications at the moment suggest that he may not live through it. I'm not making this up and felt sick to my stomach when I heard the news.

Re: Lonergan Fighting for his Life

That is shocking news, I hope he pulls through.

what im saying may not be correct, it's just what I have being told. You would hope people wouldnt make these kinds of things up, but in this case I hope they are.

Re: Lonergan Fighting for his Life

The original post made me feel sick, but now that everyone is saying he's fine and well... I'll choose to believe that.

I've been thinking so much about him lately - this has really affected me. =/

There are a lot of people who are so screwed in the head that they actually do make up stories like this..

Ive been thinking of him all week... and looking forward to reading about him being released from hospital.

friend of the family who knows a nurse, huh? That sounds like an anonymous enough paper trail. I say YOU made this up.

From AAP:
Geelong defender Tom Lonergan has been taken out of a medically induced coma, having undergone surgery to have a kidney removed four days ago.
The 22-year-old, who suffered a lacerated right kidney in last Saturday's drawn AFL match against Melbourne, continues to improve, a Geelong spokesman said.
The process of bringing Lonergan back to consciousness took around six hours, the Cats said.
Doctors are optimistic Lonergan can continue his career and add to his tally of seven games once he has recovered.
Geelong plays its final game for 2006 against Hawthorn at Telstra Dome on Sunday.

Tom's dad was on SEN this morning and said his son is recovering well.
Not at death's door at all.

I think the OP should edit/delete their post lest these stupid rumours spread further.

If you've made this up you are a moron of the highest order. If you haven't made it up then it was way off as he is reported to be recovering well.

Dont go off and blame the original poster as I am sure it was a genuine attempt to pass on what he/she had heard. The mistake in saying he was fighting for his life might just have been a problem with the chinese whispers effect rumours have. Eg. it might have started out that the rumour was Longergan was fighting for his life when they discovered the bleeding and had to remove the kidney but ended up as just He is fighting for his life. We all knew it was rumour when it was posted so no point going off just because it ended up being unfounded.

I wasn't going off but when someone posts something vital regarding someones health like that and say that they're getting it from someone in the know (the hospital) they have a certain responsibility that what they post is accurate. He was using very strong language such as 'fighting for his life' - people take notice of posts like that.
