Quick Q:
Does anyone know if a new player (from another comp) who registered to play in the VAFA in season 2020 will have a point reduction for season 2021 or will they remain on the same points as 2020?
Example: they registered from EDFL and were going to be 3 points in season 2020 at a VAFA club ......what will they be in season 2021?

Cheers, Chump

Chump other comps are deducting the point, so I will assume the VAFA are or will do the same.

Could someone with more knowledge attempt to explain the following. All clubs have been told that at the VAFA AGM there will be Board Elections. Is this usual? Presume clubs get a vote. While casually looking at the VAFA site today it says an old sparring partner Dave [kick a 100 goals] Matthews has just been welcomed onto the VAFA Board. Seems odd timing [given clubs have been told there are coming elections] unless there is some political agenda [Donny Trump].

Surely Dave could have stood for election like the others rather than getting a pat on the back free ride onto the board?

The VAFA Board is comprised of 9 elected members,3 of whom retire annually and 2 or maybe 3 appointed members. Dean Matthews is an appointed member. There is an election at the AGM next month, the 3 retiring members seeking re-election plus 3 others seeking election to the Board. Interesting. All clubs plus life members eligible to vote.

Thanks but why give someone 'a leg up the ladder/preferential treatment" given he could/should have been a candidate and stand on a platform and merit? The election is only 3 weeks away and it is just extremely interesting timing given there could be big board changes. One other Big big footyite private messaged me that it is the old Donny Trump appointment [branch stacking!}.

I don't see it as a 'leg up or preferential treatment'. Matthews may not have considered standing for election but when approached accepted the position.
In my opinion the VAFA has some issues but voting out all of the retiring members is not the answer. You cannot vote out the president or treasurer. Frank Dunnell would be a good choice for the third vacant position. I am confident that new blood of Matthews and Dunnell would be good choices in improving the composition of the board. Very interesting times. We have to stop the VAFA going backwards.

I think it's not going backwards apart from the Uni, Old boys clubs dominating with they're networks.

Looks like the week after Easter will be the season kick-off. Did notice that some work has been undertaken at Therry Penola. Anyone who has ever been there will know the rooms. Some rendering looks like it has happened - not sure about inside though. With no play for the year, the grounds should all be in excellent nick, even allowing for cricket.

The league had a meeting with the potential D3 and D4 clubs to seek information on what the best set up would look like. Vafa is expecting 16 teams between both divisions- 8 and 8 is probably the right way to go about it compared to the D3 10 teams and 6 team D4 slated for this season!

He is a Carey boy through and through, with both his younger brothers playing there, with being Zac on the committee.
They were very bullish about his lining up for the Panthers in 2021. Surprised he is apparently not playing there but surely if its an ammo club it's OC.

Key forwards can earn plenty in bush and metro leagues so expect he would be on decent coin.

Not with current Salary Caps.

To stay under the $120,000 per annum, each team can pay not more than $6,650 per round per senior team or $300 per game. This assumes you dont play finals.

For someone to earn $1,000 per game, that means the rest of the team will be paid $260 each. I dont think so.

You are very trusting Max. Zero chance of 100% compliance. Work around of the salary cap already occur. It will just go to another level.
