There will be no make up games. Move on with Round 9 hopefully next week. Unfortunately some teams will get an advantage but it is what it is.
The double bye was introduced for those lucky enough to travel, l know a lot of my Club will be away because that's the way it was planned.
Any changes have to suit all Clubs, all Divisions. Just cancel Round 8 and move on with the fixture as is.
Clubs have grounds booked with existing fixtures. My Club has to work with the school to get the fixture and ground allocation all worked out. That is locked in, just can't be changing to suit the Old Boys team.

Who goes on Holidays during the footy season ? Oh that's right, selfish players who let their clubs down, yeah got it now.

Its amateur footy. Zero wrong with going away during a break, or going to a wedding, or saying to the coach at the start of the year that I’m only available for 14 of 18 weeks due to work or personal travel or events.
Nothing selfish about that at all.

That's fine but surely it can be changed , also the season can be pushed back a week or 2 . Cricket would accept it.

I just don’t see a need. We won’t be playing this upcoming Saturday anyway. It’s not a 1 week lockdown. Not even Dan and his crazy team will miss the benefit of keeping kids from school and gatherings from happening for next Thur/Fri/Sat at a minimum. Greater Good! We were never opening this Thursday night.
So when it becomes multiple weeks, how do you prioritise which games are to be replayed. Just leave it as it was organised and planned for. If we get a 15-16 game season and then finals it will be a great result.
Compromised draw...sure..it works ok for the AFL.
Get the vaccine everyone and this will be our only compromised season.

Well said,we get the same thing in cricket with washed out games and we accept the shared points (realise no points allocated in footy) even though it is disappointing if you are playing the bottom team who every one is beating.

I agree Hip ........ the guidelines on condition of play were circulated and advised to all clubs. And I believe we will stick to those 'guidelines' and as such we will all just get on with it. It's not an ideal outcome for some, but in situations like this it never is. So we move on and hope we can all play this coming weekend. Absolutely.

In saying that ..... guidelines are a good place to start for any future challenge that 'may pop up'. But innovative and flexible thinking when dealing with 'real' situations is generally where great leadership blossoms. As the start of the document suggests ......

The VAFA is absolutely committed to ensuring the 2021 VAFA season commences and that all registered players are provided with as many opportunities as possible to participate and compete.
AND
The VAFA will be guided by the following conditions if/when confronted with the unique challenges of COVID-19 during the season. By producing these conditions, the VAFA is attempting to find the right balance between ensuring all matches continue to be played as well as guaranteeing that the integrity of the competition can still be protected.

IMO just scraping the round is the best option. While frustrating for some sides what happens if games are rescheduled into the bye round and then we have another lockdown just before finals where we don’t have byes to use?

Who goes on holidays during the season? What a dumb question

It's players who need to chill out, maybe see their family and friends a bit more, but also club committee and volunteers who deserve a break during the middle of July.

This is an amateur league at the end of the day.
 
Given recent positives in the past 48 hours there is no chance we come out of lockdown. Up to 221 exposure sites last I check (probably more now) and the virus has got into aged care which is another nightmare. At this stage, given weekend after is 12th June and already a VAFA weekend of no games, safe to say our best chance of ammo footy will be the 19 June.

There's also too many variables in case a "catch up" round is given the green light - which round would be replayed? Round 8 or 9 (divisonal example).
Perhaps it should be put to clubs and a vote needed, say 75% needed in order to approve the round but I dont believe it will happen.

It's life in 2021 with a pandemic still very much affecting day to day. Accept it and move on and whatever happens may happens.

Failure of the Feds to build a Quarantine centre (not 1 case has come from the NT facility ) also tardiness in getting the Vaccine out . Aust has only 2% fully vaccinated whereas Chile has over 40% ! This also come from a failure in SA . Also the Feds allowing flights in from India
