Could somebody let me know when Fev is eligable for Veterans List

Also would like to know about mature recruits like Stevens, Scotland
and Judd?

I know it used to be service at 1 club but seem to recall a rule change allowing older players at their second club, Proposed or implemented?

Thanks in advance.:)

The third year of Fev's new contract is when he's eligible for the veterans list. NFI on the other technicalities. I do know we have nobody on it right now, but instead have extra rookies (like Jammo).

Thanks for the info.

What about:
Stevens Debut 1998
Scotland 1999

or is 10 years at 1 club still required?

As you mentioned in the OP, there is a proposed rule change regarding players who have played their 10 years for different clubs that is not yet in effect, but should be soon (not sure on details, can't seem to find any).

Section 13.2 in the Collective Bargaining Agreement says that the player must have been with the one club for 10 years and 30 years of age or older at 30 September in the relevant AFL season.

Means that Fev isn't eligible till the 3rd year of his contract. I have heard about the proposed rule change but I doubt it will happen until 2012 as that is when the current CBA expires.

my dad told me that its just 10 years at one club and i heard that on the radio,
So Fevola's veteren next year.

That's how it is now, but there is a rule change being considered:

THE AFL is considering a raft of changes to its veteran list rules in an effort to prevent the introduction of free agency.

Under the proposal being considered by the league, players would be able to transfer their years of service from one club to another.

As an example of the proposed changes, Carlton’s Chris Judd could be added to the club’s veteran list when he turns thirty, even though he would have been at the club for less than ten years.

The current rules stipulate that a player needs to have been at a club for ten years and be thirty years of age.

Players who have veteran status only have half of their total salary included in a club’s salary cap.

Today’s The Age newspaper understands that the changes have the support of a draft review committee of AFL and and club officials.

This was from 29 February, when can we expect the new rule to be in effect?

It will have huge impact on our salary cap in a few years when applicable to Stevo, then Scotto and years later Judd.
