I only watched the second half, but there was some nice play in that half. Zerk, Ridley, Ham all rather good. Snelling, Dea and Myers pretty decent.

I admit, Houlihan just made me eat my words earlier and I couldn’t be happier. What a mark and the clutch goal. That was brilliant.

Also Ridley should not play another game in the twos again. He’s too good for it.
Ridley won't get another game, shows way too much composure :p:p

Good win by the boys.

Standouts for me were Zerk-Thatcher with twenty touches and 7 intercept marks, Ridley is a jet has awesome disposal and a cool head with ball in hand not sure where his best position is, Mynott had a decent day with some good plays, Gleeson is building nicely and Ham should have kicked 4 or 5 goals.

Really blazed away in the fourth quarter after keeping the blues in it for three quarters.

While Myers and Zerk were probably our best today, I took most out of the performances of Ham and Ridley. Both look constructive players when they have the ball. It is just a matter of how much they need to improve to be able to compete successfully for the contested ball at senior level.
There are heaps of good vfl players who are strong in winning the contested ball, but their skills aren't quite good enough to use it well at afl level. Guys like Younan and NOB.
It will be interesting if (when?) Dulan Clarke gets dropped, because he and Snelling look very similar players. Both in the one side would be an unusual combination.
Jok also looked very good to me at times today - like a player who had good awareness of what was around him and he used it pretty well.
Lucky Houlahan took the screamer because he did very little else. I don't think he has got much going for him. Remember a short guy called Williams froom a few years ago who could jump over a pack and occasionally held a screamer, but that was about the extent of it?
I was disappointed not to see Bowman get a run as a target forward today. He seemed to play ruck off the bench in relief of Clark only.

Having watched most of the game now, player review:

#8 Martin Gleeson: Jet. Is ready for AFL.

#14 Jordan Ridley: Was very very good in the middle. Would love for him to play AFL but I can see why they're keeping him here.

#20 Zach Clarke: Good game. Showed great aggression.

#23 David Myers: Best on probably. Had a heap of the ball, 2 goals.

#24 Jordan Houlahan: Solid game. Took his chances.

#30 Brandon Zerk-Thatcher: Intercepted everything. Best game of the year.

#33 Brayden Ham: Think I like him forward/midfield rather than defence. Good kick for goal.

#34 Jake Long: Was good without being great. Days numbered.

#36 Michael Hartley: Just keeps on keeping on. Would be comfortably leading our BnF IMO

#39 Trent Mynott: Built into the game nicely.

#40 Will Snelling: Love his intent, and has nice speed. Kicking isn't fantastic though.

#46 Tom Jok: Was his best game for the club, kicking was on point.

#49 Matt Dea: Good VFL player. Love him.

I think Campbell Brown summed up Danny Younan's game pretty well, he had "The best worst day ever." Other notable VFL players were Liam McKenna, just a strong body in the contest; Aaron Heppell did what he always does; Ray Connellan played quick and decisive which I love. I don't think Sibbald is a VFL standard key forward.

So you agree Zerk was stiff to miss VFL TOTW

Without having seen the games from May, Durdin and Roberts, yes. Then again I didn't think he deserved TOTW last week so it balances out somewhat.

eth-dog how were you watching the replay?

Was one of the more even performances from a VF Bombers team I have seen. Lots of players had plenty of the ball but not as much impact as you would like. Felt the VFL 'bests' were fairly spot on.

Brayden Ham - 3 goals, 13 possessions
Marty Gleeson - 22 possessions, 6 marks, 5 rebound 50's
Davd Myers - 26 possessions, 2 goals, 7 Inside 50's
Brandon Zerk - Thatcher - 21 possessions, 10 marks, 4 rebound 50's
Danny Younan - 20 possessions, 8 marks, 1 goal (5 behinds)
Trent Mynott - 24 possessions, 5 tackles

As mentioned, was a really good team effort. Jok was good. Dea was good enough. Snelling got involved. I like Sibbald eth-dog impressed me more on the weekend than he had in his previous times in front of me.

My issue with Sibbald is that he rarely brings the ball to ground. His direct opponent was probably their second best player behind Daisy in Goddard, who had a stack of intercept marks. Hell, he got outpointed in a one-on-one by Jarrod Garlett, a bloke who is giving him 8 inches and probably about 20 kilo's. He needs to be far more aggressive in those situations.

Positioning is what seems to let down a lot of players. He showed some of that vaunted agility he is reknowned for on the weekend. He actually reminds me a little of another former Bomber with a long neck. Michael Still. Not sure he is that hulking KPP but more a hybrid leading forward.

You don't need to be a hulking KPP to bring the ball to ground effectively. There are plenty of players hwo had that ability whilst being a leading forward. Alex Boyse was good at it, Michael Still was good at it, even Daniel Willis was good at it. All of them showed far more aggression in a contested situation. He has 7 goals in 10 games at this level.

I'd like to see Hanna get an opportunity to see whether or not he can do it more effectively.

Hanna must be playing back because he has kicked the solitary goal from 6 games whilst being named in the bests 4 times.
Defence or even possibly in the ruck. Didn't play on the weekend so probably injured now too...
