I don't usually single handedly pay out umpires after a game...
But was it me, or were they absolutely terrible?

So many poor errors in judgement, the funny thing is that they reflect the standard of the AFL at the moment.
Anyone catch the really poor decisions in the Sydney vs Freo game??? The best I can remember was two opposing players hanging onto the ball, with another Sydney guy hanging onto the freo player. Because one guy was on his knees, and the other on his feet, it was deemed holding the ball.
Another favourite was when Amon Buchanan was tackled near the boundary line in the last quarter with no-on around, he simply handballed it straight over the boundary line, no free, throw it in. It was that obvious, yet due to the one-sided crowd who didn't cry foul, it was let go.
I can't wait to see this game next week to see what the VFL has served up in the poor umpiring awards.

Although on the whole they were ok. You have to remember they aren't exactly top notch qualified. I'm still annoyed at playing McCarthy instead of Cook, terrible decision.

quite easily... if they're in the 50m arc whilst kicking in then its a free simple as that... this is to stop both teams filling space with runners.carn_the_cattas said:Can someone please explain to me the rule on the runners at the kick-ins. How can runners get free-kicks paid against them when they're not even playing.

Is that the stand thats on the right telecast side with the wooden seats? I saw something simular just wondering if it was the same thing.thejester said:To be fair, it could easily have been paid in the back...there were some absolute shockers though, we were sitting in Bay 14 of the Legends Stand, saw Hunt literally get fingertips to his opponent who dove and was awarded in the back
I was sitting right behind the goals there and it deffinatly looked like a throw. When we got within a goal, one of my mates said "watch them get a free in fron of goal now" and they did. Bloke muffed the shot though

answerman said:Cleary had me swearing at the TV (as usual) but in his defence in the last quarter he gave the umpires a real spray over the decision when we were less than a goal down and on a roll, and the non-free paid in front of our goals with less than a minute to go.

fugsy said:Indeed it was. Should have seem the abuse avalanche near us when that happened.
