I think we should have a stand alone club. Bendigo isn't working.
Essendon would have a greater control of the team and their would be more supporters.
What do you think?

Collingwood have no reserves so they they have
have a Primary List (11 players) and Rookie List (10 players)
The primary list play all the time expect for injury and rookue replace's them. Then the Collingwood listed players take up the remaining spots.
So to answer your question the team will haves players as they have no reserves

They would want to hope that they had no injuries amongst the VFL and VFL rookie players as by my calculations they would be picking 22 from 23 playrs left to play if we had a stand alone VFL side.
I know the Pies have a few injuries amongst their rookie players who play EFL when not required. Brad Jones from Eastern rangers did a knee earlier this year.

As far as a stand alone side goes. I think it should happen and i am pretty sure it will happen when the agreement is finished next year.

Would be good if we had our own team. Then we could play more games at Windy Hill and get more of a crowd to support the young players coming thru

Essendon already tried this and it was costing the club too much money by playing them out of Windy Hill. They would have to move the VFL side into the CBD or East-Melbourne to make them financially viable.

Collingwood was the same. They were playing out of VIc Park, but it was still too far out of the way for fans, and since, have moved it to Olympic Park (when they split from Williamstown)

Bendigo while far away, is a footy deprived community, and as such,a ttracts more people then the EFC could playing out of WH whilst there is AFL footy going on.

Really? I think you would find that most people from Bendigo could've give a stuff about the Bendigo Bombers, that is evidenced by the quality of players that Bendigo attract to its senior and reserves sides.

Also, tell me how it would be more costly playing out of Windy Hill?

Collingwood are playing at Optus Oval not OP. They will however play out of OP once it is converted into a footy ground in 2-3 years time.

You have an ordinary insight into the situation at hand.
For a start Collingwood are playing at Princes Park and not Olympic Park. The reason they are not playing at Vic Park was the fact they they had a battle with the council over the condition of the ground when Collingwood left.(which was settle out of court i belive). At the moment the facitities at Vic Park are very ordinary and not really good enough to allow any sort of crowd.

Now as far as being financially viable goes i dont think the club would be lloking at making their VFL side pay its way. They would hope to get a good level of sponsorship but the operating costs of would be absorbed into the over all cost of running the club. It would not matter where you played the VFL games you would struggle to make it pay. In saying that the games at WH have always drawn bigger crowds than any of the games in Bendigo.
The fact that you say Bendigo will always attract bigger crowds show how much you do not know. The crowds in Bendigo have been ordinary. They have struggled to get over 500 people to games. People in Bendigo are more interested in watching their local footy or making the trip down to Melbourne to watch AFL than they are about going to see a Bendigo game. There are moree Essendon supporters in Melbourne that are prepared to turn up and watch games at WH than there are Bendigo locals prepared to see Bendigo games.
You really should be better informed :)

Are they actually going to convert it into a footy oval ? I know there was talk but i thought there was still a bit of a stumbling block with Athletics Victoria over the use.

I read somewhere that the government is spending $100+ mil on a re-development.

EDIT: Here it is

The athletics track at Olympic Park will be moved to Albert Park, under a new plan from the State Government.

The shift will give Victorian athletics a new home and the Collingwood Football Club will train on Olympic Park.

Funding for the move will be included in next week's budget.

The Premier, John Brumby has also revived the debate about covering over the Jolimont rail yards and extending Federation Square.

But he has not committed any funding to that idea.

"We need to be able to ensure that there's appropriate development on that site, it's got to be at a relatively low level so that it doesn't interfere with the vista and the amenity," he said.

Acting Coalition leader Peter Ryan is sceptical

"There are no costings in relation to this. We don't know what the Government is going to contribute. We don't know what the private sector is supposed to contribute," he said.

The Premier has conceded any development at the rail yards is still years away.
