Answer: 1: Whaldron, the CEO

This is what leaguies have been arguing against the AFL's Brisbane Lions and now the Kangaroos all along: Just another Victorian team relocated and nothing to identify with where they are.

And they have the nerve to question why we shoiuld support the No-Melbourne or Vic Boys Storm.

I bet if Whaldron lined up at the rucks the storm will win by a mile.
That solves the problem of no victorian born players in the Storm line up.

Please engage with reality. For once.

Ok,
All the Storm players live in Melbourne, so that solves the problem.

Only 8 players on the swans list is from NSW.

What do you want them to do? Pick any joe blow from the streets to play?
They are a new club and are slowing building!! They have a couple of outstanding junior players who will soon play for the Storm (Victorian born and raised who can take a tackle:p ).
Good to see a lot of interest in the Storm... Anyone who has the time to post in this thread obviously see the Storm as there team or a threat and has to bag them... Good stuff guys!!:thumbsu:

Been following the storm all year,
They should be a power side in the NRL for quite sometime. Plus their coach is one of the better coaches in the RL caper.

It's not a problem, just that they're all a bunch of interstaters.

Good for you mate!!!! The Storm needs more people like yourself!
Craig Bellamy didn't get the coach of the year award for nothing... Outstanding coach! You can be proud of your team guys... They were minor premiers by a country mile, The Dally M winner is Cameron Smith, the half back of the year is Cooper Cronk and you guys have a player in the name of Greg Inglis who can be the next Mal Meninga!!!
Great Stuff!! Add to that the Sell out State Of Origin earlier in the year and the up and coming test match between Australia and New Zealand at the end of the year... Rugby League in Melbourne is looking good!!!
Let's add to that the New Stadium that's going to be built and the Millions that the NRL ARE FINALLY going to pump into Melbourne, in the next 5-10 years things will be going great guns!

Well, Jeremy Smith and Jake Webster were both born and brought up in Melbourne. They are both players for the Storm who regularly make the starting 22.

Ofcourse, lets not let the truth get in the way of good stats. 2 players isn't something to write home about, but it's a decent start considering the only NSW born player in the Sydney Swans is LRT.

Why wouldnt they follow the most successful football team in Victoria in 2006?
Because Victorians know a dud imported sport when they see one thats why the Strom will never capture the hearts and minds of Victorian sports lovers.

Well, I asked the question, no-one answered, so had a punt.

The two are sons of rugby league expats, most likely.

Geez, Sydney has something like 14 NSW players. Leo barry, Ben Matthews, Nick Davis to name just a few. In fact the AFL has nearly 30 NSW born and bred players.

Of the top of my head, (and swans fans will probably add more), but Premiership players Lewis Roberts-Thompson, Paul bevan (son of RL great), and Nick Davis all came up through the sydney AFL grades.

Anyway, while we are straighting up a few facts, here's the blurb on Jake Webster from the storm site:
Jake is the only Melbourne-born player in the Storm squad. He spent the early years of his life in Moonee Ponds before moving to Brisbane with his father. Began his rugby league career as an eight-year-old with the Valleys rugby league club and remained with the club through to under-18s. Jake was first spotted by former Storm assistant coach Anthony Griffin in 2000 and was offered a place with Storm feeder side, Norths Devils. In 2001 he was selected in the QLD under-19s side and was offered a Storm contract soon after.

Maybe born, but hardly bred.

Craig Polla-Mounter was born in Melbourne... After 8 years how many born Sydneysiders did the swans have? Not Wagga or any other NSW town, how many Sydneysiders?

Stop hi-jacking this thread everyone. It's not a another mindless thread to insult the very existence of the Storm, rather it's a thread with the purpose of asking people whether or not they are willing to embrace the Storm this year.

I really don't mind answers either way - but when people are stupid enough to go off-topic and say the Storm shouldn't exist, that's thread hi-jacking and is warranted by reporting the post and subsequent banning.

Perhaps the more interesting question, is will the Victory kill off the Storm as Melbourne's 2nd sport ?

Can't wait.

I'm going tommorow night and then to the GF.

Go Storm!

Wish I could make it up there but unfortunately work is preventing me from doing so.

Will still be barracking hard from home. Hopefully we can go all the way.

Nice to see that so many apparently don't care about the Storm, but obviously care enough to read and contribute to a thread, stating their dislike for them.
