Anyone else find this place infuriating

I would have this place as one of the biggest scum organizations in Australia

Just seem to try and get every possible dollar out of you

For example had a 3 day new release the movie was returned 2 days late well I would say a day and a half but they consider it 2

So I get charged 14 dollars when you can hire it for 3 days at 7 dollars just seems amazing they can do that putting 7 dollars on my bill for each day over due

They pretty much will not let you borrow unless you pay the whole bill I don't have a problem with it being paid but give people a option of paying 50% or something

There movies are always scratched
The staff have no idea where the movies are located

I know there is bigger issues in the world and it's a Saturday night and having a quiet one so thought I would post this and see if anybody else have these kind of issues

So you're complaining that if you break the contract and return it late they charge you a penalty because they then can't rent that video out to make revenue to run their business?

My beef is how can it be a day and half late and they charge you two rentals fee's when you can borrow it for 3 days shouldn't the fee be another 3 days rental which is what I paid originally

Plenty of people use video shops not every person on the planet downloads there movies

Well I took it back about 12 in the afternoon so they could have put it back on the shelf and made another fee of it

So it was due the day before so I was charged 2 days

Same. Mine is very friendly, helpful, and don't mind giving you a bit off a fine.
I nearly always hand them in on time though, so it doesn't really have an effect on me.

Blockbuster gives you 50% off your fine if you pay it when you return whatever you rented.

Blockbuster is a ****load worse than Video Ezy in my parts. When I stupidly converted to console gaming I hired a ****load of games and Blockbuster were absolute *****. They had Assassins Creed 2 sitting next to Brotherhood in the new release section and charged ten bucks a night.

Video Ezy have a much smaller collection but they don't butt**** you.

Video shops are close to extinction and only the specialist stores will survive. Piracy is so ****ing easy yet most of the legitimate sources are terrible. Publishers need to catch up and offer decent streaming services.

I do wonder how Adult Fantasy Bookshop has survived this long. Can't imagine how they could compete with the internet...

i hired a game from video ezy one time, my brother was meant to take it back but forgot iirc, it ended up being 3 days overdue. i just dropped into the store and left. the next time i went to hire something i was told i had a bill of $20+ for a late fee on the game. ended up leaving the store without hiring anything because i didn't want to pay for it. a week later or so i got a letter in the mail from a debt collection agency on video ezy's behalf wanting the late fee that was incurred. ended up paying it and never went back.

ended up joining a different store that were much cheaper on 3-day and weekly rentals, had great deals and had a 50% off late fees if you paid when you returned them.

My VE store is pretty lenient with fines but the DVD's were always ****ing scratched and in poor condition so I stopped going there.

My local vid Ezy is a very small one does have half the titles l want when looking for some older vids.the woman that works there is a sourpuss but she seems to less of a b!tch these days.what is a rip off l am not sure if all vid stores do this.but with tv shows you get charged for one disc of a show which might only have 2 eps on it.you get charged the same as aweekly movie.l have'nt been to mine is a while l only go there with a docket thingy.

I guess some people just like the idea of dropping into the video store on their way home and grabbing a DVD rather than going through the hassle of downloading.

Not me though. Haven't rented for about five or six years. If I really want a movie, I can buy it for $12 or $15 from JB Hi-Fi and I also have cable internet so if I don't wanna pay I can download a 1gb movie in about 10 or 15 minutes.

Not keen on piracy but downloading from iTunes, off the PS3 store or any other online catalogue is dead easy. Renting costs no more than $5 or $6 and available in both SD and HD. Not to mention the excellent range available.

Yeh ours is the same.

Know the people working there so have got off a few fines over the years.

$6 for 8 weeklies or $8 for 2 new releases and 4 weeklies - great value.

Have not rented a dvd since 2007 and noticed how fast dvds were scratched early on. I hired a few new release movies (within 3 days of the actual release) and the condition of the discs made them look like they were years old.... rather than brand new.

I take excellent care of my dvd collection (also extends to my video games), majority are still "brand new" despite being many years old. I don't do anything a normal person wouldn't. So it makes me wonder what the ordinary home user can get the discs scratched up so badly, it's like they use them as frisbees (or just treat them like video tapes, and over use the fast forward / rewind functions on the dvd player, rather than skipping from scene to scene).

Rental stores still have their place - good for renting a movie if you arn't sure if you will enjoy it (if you had not seen i before or read about it previously etc).

I went through a stingy period where i didn't buy many dvds and would wait until certain movies reached a certain price (back when individual movies were $40 - $50 a pop). Even when the prices were dropping i was still selective in what i purchased, vs what i would rent.

For example i didn't buy my own copy of Batman Begins for years as i couldn't justify the price of the dvd.... for the content (movie as well as extras), however i rented it a lot - the amount of times i rented it i may as well have purchased my own copy at its original full price.

The flood gates opened a few years ago where i purchased everything, boy did i make some shocking decisions (Superbad rates as one of my worst!).

Even when a dvd gets reduced a few months after release, a bad choice still hurts..... but a good one rocks .

If theres a video store blackbook, bet you I'm in it.

I've recieved demands from video stores for fines over $100 but never paid, I have the same problem with parking tickets. I just refuse to pay because I dont believe the price reflects the crime. So I still havent paid them and they went away

I owe the nearest video ezy to me about $30 and another $70 on my girlfriends account because of one of the worst movies of all time that I hired when it was an overnighter but didt return for at least 2 months

I go to the movies a lot, I dont love piracy but I do use it also. I still buy all my music which some of my friends this is redic but its $1 a song who gives a shit its worth the quality

I only ever used to rent for new released but with Foxtel Box Office you really dont need it. If theres any old movies I really want to watcht theyre usually on sale for $6 and JBHIFI anyway

Also has anyone else had the same problem if you have not been to Video Ezy that your a member of for more the 6 months they make you put a $50 deposit down on a Game or Tv Series
