why is there so much violence in Geelong? every weekend there are tons of bashings and stabbings and shit on the streets of town. every week there are shootings, stabbings, bashings all over the place and just the other night i saw a drive by shooting in the suburb i live in (whittington) which happens to be one of the worst suburbs for these things
it has to stop somehow, its getting pretty scary
does anyone else have all these problems where they live where they get tons of shooting and stabbings every night?

No! But Sydney is like that apparently. If its getting that bad. its time to find some where else to live.

actually it used to be worse but its slowly getting better but still terrible especially where i live and some other areas

I think it's like that everywhere nowdays, part of the degredation of societal standards in general.
Too many freedoms and not enough responsibilities.

I don't think Geelong is any worse than any other reasonably large city.

Geelong's problem is that most of the clubs are reasonably condensed in a relatively small area space. So when someone get's kicked out or places close alot of people congregate into the same area.

Ever seen a Geelong supporter snap?

*twitch*

For those who know it...I used to work at the drive-thru bottle shop right next to Dandenong station. I should have been payed danger allowance for some of the shit that went on there.

Canberra is similar. There are about 7 pubs/clubs in a square block. Everyone (including kids) just gets hammered and then moves onto the next one. On Sunday mornings the streets are just filthy.

There was a dodgy incident the other day when a guy brought some shots for his niece and girlfriend. However, the barman wouldn't serve the man. A little while later, one of the girls was literally singing in the rain and the other one was out of her tree. They both ended up in an ambulance.

I know that one, Use to go there once every two weeks.

What happened around there?

Aren't the Whittington,Corio and Torquay shootings in the last 2 weeks all related to the bike warfare that's going on in the Geelong and Werribee area ?

There's been bikie clubhouses torched or pelted with bullets in the last month.

It seemed any shit that was going on in the surrounding area escalated and made it's way to our shop. Add to the fact we were pretty much right next to Dandenong station which is always fun and games at night...I had to call the cops in for something at least twice a week.

Yep & what you're talking about (the shots fired/people being shot, fire bombings, beatings) has spread to 3 states (NSW, Vic & Queensland) at the moment.

I moved to where I am now about 3 years ago. I always thought of it as a feral suburb (being 30 mins out of the city) but at the time it was an area where I could afford to buy.

I've had a couple of incidents with kids being stupid, throwing eggs at the house, had some Christmas lights stolen etc. I was so close to getting the hell out of here, I was scared. I felt like I was being targeted.

But things seems to have calmed down and haven't had too many problems of late (other than someone stealing the badge from my car). But nothing like shootings, stabbings or bashings. Its pretty safe once you get past the random hooligans.

There's no way I'd be putting up with what you have. There are plenty of suburbs that don't have those sorts of problems, its not everywhere. Its not normal. I'd be moving out of there pretty fast.

Melbourne went through a similar thing about a year ago (it's still happening but the frequency is dying out) and eventually everyone started getting burned out by taking too many pills.

And because the market for pills became so lucrative, the pill quality inevitably got lower etc.

It will stop eventually - you'll still see it, but there was a period of about a year in Melbourne where it was just not much fun to even go out as it seemed EVERYONE was up for a blue.

Where you living?

Narre Warren. I grew up in Forest Hill where nothing every happened. Its full of old people, just the way I like it. Too many young people here. I live on not so much a main road, but a road that gets a lot of traffic. You get big groups of teenagers walking past on a Saturday night and every now and then things happen. I'm sure if I lived in a quiet street in this area I would never have any problems.
