It's definitely time. Love to see someone from outside of Melbourne in the gig.
Vlad was definitely cut throat enough on certain aspects.. but the propping up of struggling clubs in a saturated market may end up hurting the ability for the game to spread to other states (and potentially NZ).
It's tough to let go of old clubs in Melb if you played in the old VFL. And I get that - its fair enough.
Someone from outside will view things more objectively I think. Time will tell.
Love to see a team in Tassie and then Darwin/Canberra/Auckland over the next 10 years.

good riddance. Worst boss this competition has had. His obsession with expanding into NSW/QLD has compromised the integrity of the entire competition. Also his handling of the Essendon drug saga was laughable.

I think it's a bit churlish not to acknowledge his achievements, most particularly regarding the financial growth of the game which is unprecedented.

I think by most business / commercial measures his tenure would be considered successful. There have been failings of course - no one in that position would be perfect nor would they keep everyone happy.

I've no doubt that post AFL there will be no shortage of opportunities for him.

As a crows fan I'm happy he's going, but from a more general standpoint the game has grown significantly under his tenure.

I think history will look very favourably on his time as ceo.

No argument here. Overall a very successful stint at the helm. It was time.

Happy he has gone.
Financially he has been great for the game.
The game as a spectacle is still great, however I love watching footy from the 80s and 90s as it resembles what I grew up playing and loving. Too many rule changes for my liking.
Still has not bought equity to the game. Umpires need to be full time and better allocated to games for the home sides. Maybe the new guy will. Anyway my vote is for Brian Cook.

Hmm, notice he said that after 11 years in charge any organization would need someone new in charge.

“I’ve always said it’s an honour and privilege to serve in this role, but any organisation needs renewal and needs a new set of eyes.

Salient.

`There is a old saying ( if gets too hot in the kitchen - get out of it )
Definitely the criticism was fierce as started to make one mistake after another ,thinking he could get away with anything ,
Just some of them
Misdfud -- Rendell fiasco
GWS -- Nucket loads of cash that struggling clubs could use and grass roots in footy states which earn the income he spends deserves it.
Trigg -- Tippett saga -- Yes we were guilty but relate our fines etc to later penalties seem over top along with how Swans screwed everyone over and then get $1mill man for nothing . also how forced issue to get Rendell fired and let Trigg stay .
Melbourne --- Seemed to get it all wrong with punishments as backed off on the club.
Essendon -- Just unbelievable how he let this club totally back him to a wall in one of worst scandals in Aust. sport to a smack on wrist fine and sort of suspend their coach . Just unbelievable with all his sprout about drugs in sport and here we have them still playing .
I am sure there is a lot more .

Financial growth of the game does not necessarily mean it was good for the game. ;)
