Hardly sad, he had 10 years as an AFL coach and some people would think that was 5 year too many.

He's just not a good coach at AFL level.
He improved Carlton, took you to a prelim, and as others have mentioned your best coach in a very long time.

You think Carlton was held back by this one guy and the rest is going well?

Not perfect, but better than past choices. Wright is slowly rebuilding but this is a wrong step.

After all the epic chokes this season, losing to struggling clubs after being miles in front, now it's a gallant two-goal loss to the reigning premier that prompts him to quit? How strange.
Is it about Hollands? Have the players revolted?

Most likely the board squibbed it, told him to tank. That would be classic Carlton. Voss is too honest for them

some times the mental stress gets to much.
Best for Michael is to pack up the family and go overseas, get away and enjoy the time with his family.

Wonder what prompted the resignation?
Imagine Carlton would probably preferred he coach out season while a replacement process was run
Bit awkward doing that in May now

Maybe he thought to himself that the Blues had a competitive loss against Brisbane so might be a good time to leave on his terms rather than be told by the club to go after a thrashing by a team.

He probably feels better already. Get the presser out of the way and he’ll feel like a new man. He can go home and polish his premiership medals.

Another possibility is that he was told the club would be seeking a replacement coach for 2027 and he was no longer required, but would be welcome to continue coaching until that process was complete
And he said piss off to that

Who knows

Vossy was the blues best coach in decades, got them 5 goals up in a prelim!

Shame the list he inherited was so flawed. Paying B and C grade roll players like Williams 900kpa. He did good with what he was given.

Because Vossy resigned I don’t think Crippa can count this as a notch on his coach sacking belt. He won’t have his Colgate smile on this morning as a result.

Yes and better for Carlton to be losing for a decent crack at the draft.
A new coach bounce up to 12th won’t help them

It’s really disappointing to see the media hound him out of the job. Complete opposite to Ken and them jumping onboard for years to save him.

I mean look at the list Vossy has to work with. What was he meant to achieve here. Really needed to just invest in that stability and having an experienced figure head at the top.

After all, when you think of Carlton, you think of Voss. Really disappointing to see a club icon treated like this.
Last year Carlton were praised for backing him in and not sacking another coach.

Sad day. He was a tough coach with an old fashioned approach. He has always 100% in the game because he loved football, I think his biggest fault is that he is bad at politics.

A bit of Nathan Buckley about him, in that he was self motivated. Maybe he had a hard time understanding players with less drive? A good coach of good players.

At Brisbane I think he had few resources and tried to work miracles quickly, at Carlton he tried to maximise his lists strengths, but the idiot board undermined him because they are selfish idiots.

Obviously his days were numbered but how does this help? Is this scapegoating for Hollands?

Carlton aren't as bad as Essendon, but they are getting there. Another wrong step.
I’d take the bombers list moving forward

Yep that too. Might as well leave now.

Which media will employ him ?
He doesn't have a history of misbehaving off field and even tackled a burglar once, so that rules out Channel 7.

The poor guy only had 7x All Australians, 2 Coleman medalists, a 2x Brownlow medalist, Gary Ayres medalist and the current highest paid player in the league while he was head coach.

Voss was doomed to fail.

Send Cripps to the VFL and delist him at the end of the season.

The coach can only do so much, it's the players that should be sacked for their crap performances.
Weird timing given Cripps was BOG last weekend.

The club definitely needs to overhaul parts of the list but it’s also pretty clear Voss isn’t a great coach, and sitting 1-8 after being backed in reflects that.

Doesn’t also have to be a coach v squad dichotomy. It’s usually both.

That team that year any coach should have been able to get a finals run out of.

He was tactically poor and had no plan B.

His whole tenure he never came up with a game plan for forward entries other than bomb it long.

He definitely held back that sides potential.
