Votes v Lions

Paddy Bowden was the best 1/4 of football I've ever seen in a yellow and black jumper.

17 touches, a plethroa of goal saving marks, games first goal, skill, hardness, courage, run.

When the game was on - he was amazing.

Who gives a toss about the 2nd half when it was dead?

Then why were his marks backing into packs. Its not like they were marks cutting off a pass.

Dont play games and say the player.

Polo had 2 possessions in the second half. I thought that wasnt good enough to get a vote? You found one for him. Why?

yeah, but Pat had 4 in the second half and you deemed that ok for BOG or second best. I found 1 for Polo, and confidently predict that i will be finding many many more, since he was integral in setting up 90% of the plays that we scored from in that first and second quarters. Take a look, you will be surprised if you look closely and dont listen to Walls. ;)

I also think he will get many more votes but it doesnt change my view.

So we have different opinions that players made a mark in the first half to get us off to a flyer.

Both of us gave them votes as to our opinion. Seems like a pretty useless thing to be disagreeing with now.

And on the slighty more off-side....
Its normal for someone to overstate but we had 14 goals in the first half and Polo had 1 kick, 7 handballs(in the first half) and 4 tackles(for the game so we'll make it 2). That takes us to 10 if we assume everyone of his disposals and/or tackles was integral in setting up a goal we get to about 70%.

man, even the greatest superstars didnt get BOG for one quarter blitzes, if it wasnt the last quarter and was integral in a super come back.
The vote i gave Polo, was purely for a youngster with a handful of games doing what he did ontop of keeping a star of the game out of the play. Now if Polo was afforded the luxury of running around the ground at top pace for a quarter without an immediate dangerous opponent, i would suggest he might have had a 20 possies too.
give you the mail, Power had 2 in the first and Polo had 6, with 5 of those if not all of them ending in a direct shot for goal. I might have been exaggerating with the %, but i am not exaggerating who was integral in the first quarter and who reaped the rewards of such a blitz on a quality ball magnet.
Same with suga on Black. ;)

3. Richardson
2. P. Bowden
1. Simmonds

I wanted to pull a smokey or something but its hard to go past those three as the best on ground.

Anything after half time was complete junk time. The result was a foregone conclusion by 1/4 time and it was P2 and Richo that got us in that position.

LMAO, gotta luv the tigerheads, one week he is "number 2" and the next he is P2, with a quarter of footy. You can understand why we have been waiting for 5 or 6 years for past "stars" to emerge and then realised how "number 2" they were. ;)

He tagged Luke Power out of the game in the first half.

Cogga, I am only commenting on what I'd seen. We were 80 points up at half time and the game was over as far as a result was concerned. During the first quarter, he took no less than 5 contested marks in the defensive 50m zone, each time outmarking big lugs like Bradshaw or Merret.

During the first half, Patrick Bowden was clearly our best player. This, logically, makes this a match winning performance. Hence the votes that most seem to have given him.

My opininions, as you appear to insinuate, of Patrick Bowden have not oscillated either this year. He's had a few down games, but on the whole, he has been a consistent and reliable player, either as a floating forward or as a 3rd tall defender.

I also think that Patrick Bowden is, and probably only ever will be, a 'B' list player. Not that there is anything wrong with this. No side is ever made up of a full 'A' list. Even the great recent Brisbane side only had 8 - 10 'A' list players during their 3 premierships and 4 consecutive grand finals.

The rest of the list was made up of honest 'B' list players who did their job each week. Not unlike Patrick Bowden has been for us this year.

this is where we can agree to disagree.
Clearly our best player, yes, unfortunately the unclear best player, who was doing 2 jobs at the one time, i.e. suffocating a noted ball magnet, and creating our scroing opportunities while doing that, in my book, is who made things happen for us, and not happen for them. I am not belittling Pat's performance, we were ****ing ourselves laughing with what we were witnessing, but when you dont have to be accountable to a particular opponent, run around the oval at will, get to marking contests, that have opposition players already wrestiling with their assigned tiger, i.e. thrid man to the contest, life becomes a little easier. All you need to do is run yourself into the ground for a quarter and a half. Now if its endurance he needs and can get, that eqautes to 3 quarters or so of that stuff, he would most likley win a brownlow, if the endurance levels cant be upped for him, all TW has to do now is find similar player to Pat, who can rotate with him and we can tick that box as fixed and ready for the big time.
On your points about Brisbane, yes, completely agree, but the B listers maintained the same level of output week in week out, no BOGs, but no inept performaces either. If they dont then it leaves openings, like we do. ;)
