Can't believe people are giving deledio votes...I'm one of his biggest fans but he was playing on Leigh Adams most of the day and he cut us up...20 odd possessions and kicked 3 goals and had 6 shots on goal

-5 Tambling
-4 Vickery (scared of a contest and if he turns into anything other than a good ordinary footballer, I will eat a jarful of worms in chilli sauce and post it on YouTube for all to see)

5. Connors - was consistent the whole game, only one stuff up i think
4. Cousins - Got caught a few times but played well
3. Deledio - not sure if he faded out or was on the bench but he did play a great game
2. Riewoldt - 3 goals in the wet for a tall forward is impressive
1. Moore and Thursfield - tough players, good defending, shame about a few incidents.

Mentions: Martin, Tuck, Edwards

5. Tuck stepped up in the absence of Jackson
4. Martin 17 possessions 11 tackles worked hard all day
3. Cousins got plenty and was great early but faded as we got overran
2. Deledio like Cousins started well early very quiet after half time

Played on goldstein and mcintosh for the majority when they rested up forward, did a good job running off to create, particularly first half..

most of the time his team mates gave the ball to him when he was under extreme pressure

Really hard, as no real standouts. Connors and Cuz had more of it, but didn't really use it as effectively as we have been.

Tuck had something like 14 clearances, can't be ignored.

1 - Deledio (was awesome in the 1st half but I think he re-hurt that arm and was quiet in the 2nd..still a solid game)

HM: Riewoldt

I honestly thought Connors was average today, seemed very lazy with the ball, constantly just kicked down the line high in the air. He also rushed many times when he grabbed the ball in packs and seemed to just throw it onto the boot.

What does Shane Tuck have to do to warrant a 5?

The guy had 14 clearances today - in those conditions. He is an absolute star.
clear to advantage

3 Connors - loved the fakes

Kingy 1 got stiffed by umps as usual, and there was a report and it WASNT him! (great practice for next week)
Lids 0.5 good 1st half, and a good half for Moore an all
0.5 Martin -just still love this kid

Tuck Cuz Cotch, Shane, Jack, Thursty 0.1
rest can goto Coburg for a week - they got flogged just as bad as RFC and could use a lift

about time we got grounded though - need to improve a few things for next week

I rekon Cotchin was alot better than his stats show today. Now I havent been Cotchin's biggest fan this year, his disposal has become a little scratchy and his flashes of brilliance are getting further apart but... yesterday I estimate he would of had his hands on the footy 20+ times even though he only got the 12 disposals. The amount of times he would recieve it then get wrapped up, be the one at the bottom of the pack with the footy in his hands. Was crucial in extracting it from the stoppage, just had a close check all day and couldn't get his disposal off quick enough.

While everyone thinks we play well in the wet because of that Port Adelaide game, I think our game style is much better suited to dry weather footy. We bring it in to the corridor alot and flick quick handballs around and we can't do this well enough in the wet for it to work. Also with Jack up foward, marking a wet heavy ball is a big task and that mark in the last quarter is alot harder than it looked.

Just a few observations that I didn't think warranted a new thread. btw

Oooh, can I volunteer to make the chilli sauce tug?...I somehow always end up growing more bird's eye chilli's than I can eat or give away...how does 100,000 condensed into a jar sound? ;):D

---------------

5 - Tuck: if only Jackson had been able to lend him a hand with the hard stuff and also blanket one of Harvey/Wells better

4 - Moore: thought it was his 2nd best game of the year, nearly flawless defensive display (and he actually kept his feet at contests!)

3 - Connors: another really good rebounding game, took players on, did nearly everything right, very pleasing to see him performing consistently well post-ban

2 - Cousins: was rightly chipped by Hardwick for handballing too much early, but very good game from the old fella all things considered

1 - Martin: not his best effort this year, but well ahead of many and without him at the clearances it could have got much uglier

Mentions to Reiwoldt who was excellent given the conditions, Graham who tried his arse off despite being obviously still hurt from last week, Deledio who was excellent until seemingly another arm issue curbed him, and Farmer who at face value may not have seemed great to most perhaps, but I was very pleased to see how many times he left his man and positively influenced other contests with spoils, blocks, shepherds etc. - real thinking footballer and no wonder the coaching staff love him. Also loved Cotchin's workrate and courage on a day where nothing seemed to go his way - never gave up like a real Tiger. :thumbsu:
