Home game against the Giants with the season practically dead, just like 2015.

This time around there's less feeling that this was simply a down year and that we'll easily bounce back with Hinkley in charge.
Also, no Johnny Butcher.

How did Ah Chee not make it at this level?! He had all the traits you could want in a hybrid midfielder/half forward. His late 2015 form had me certain he would be a really good midfielder, alas, wasn't to be.

On the subject of tonight's game, this is a big one. The pressure has started to increase on Ken Hinkley's future. Whilst it is far from boiling point, the temperature has indeed been rising after last Sunday's loss to Fremantle. For all intents and purposes, finals are off the table unless Port go undefeated the rest of the season. The odds of that are slim to none, and I would suggest slim has already left the building.

A win today, and that will keep the hyenas in check for at least 1 more week. However, a loss tonight would be absolutely devastating for Ken Hinkley's future. Whilst I don't think today will be his "Primus game," a loss today would be the start of a losing streak that could be as many as 4 losses in a row (at a minimum) given the next two games are against Melbourne and Geelong. Then with Collingwood at the G and Richmond the week thereafter, one could suggest there's not a single game past this one that anyone would seriously suggest Port "should" be winning. And that's a big problem for Hinkley.

I think the pressure is going to reach boiling point soon enough, but a loss tonight will only accelerate that. A loss tonight and it will only be a matter of when, not if Hinkley is removed as senior coach. A win however offers little outside of keeping a mathematical chance of finals alive.

Based on that, one can consider this is quite a "pressure" game for Hinkley. Very little to gain, a ton to lose. Usually in these types of matchups the club seems to stink it up. Maybe a stinker tonight will be his Primus game after all...

With Richmond looking likely, even if we win tonight we'll be 2 games and 10% out of the eight.

Yeah, pumped

(another thing I don't understand about us - why do we treat percentage as irrelevant? Even in games when we're on top we coast to much smaller wins than we could)

Been an less than average week at work, few Rare Breed Wild Turkeys deep already 😊 want Hinkley gone but F it, let’s smash the campaigners!!

That Ah Chee handball that led to the last goal of the first half :hearts:

...;and the mark in the 3rd. How he didn't jump to the next level is beyond me.

A win tonight is not unexpected. We should win. It keeps the wolves from Hinkley's door another week.

We've got 4 finalists in the next 4 weeks meaning we're done as soon as next week.

But if Clarkson is watching.... and thinking which squad is the way forward... then maybe winning and winning well isn't such a bad thing?

GWS by 17 points.
