We activate our sub tactically by manufacturing small niggles all the time. We're better off giving Duursma a quarter at AFL level than languishing in the bin fire that's the Magpies atm.

So you'd rather a player like Duursma is the sub and he doesn't play this week because he doesn't get on the field? Or maybe plays a half or quarter.

McEntee is a spud. I'd rather Mayes as the sub. But I'm happy playing lower ceiling players as the sub in dead rubber games to ensure our developing players play a game every week. Which ultimately will be better for their match conditioning and development.
