Not sure where it was but someone posted a similar comment somewhere else over the weekend and it's a fair comparison imo

If Nelson can reach the same sort of level as Guthrie or close to it then he will be doing pretty well

Agreed.

I remember Guthrie in the early part of his career, that's what I was comparing Nelson to. Really hard at it, disposal needs some work but love the attitude and he gives it his all. Really hope they persist with him in the midfield, would love to see him with a bigger tank in our midfield, could be a great pick up for us.

I really hope they build Nelson into a midfielder, or at the very least someone who can rotate through there. He is a very different type to our current rotations. Interesting with the Guthrie comparisons...maybe he could go Hodge-like (minus all the #goodbloke nonsense of course! ) Seems to love getting involved, tackling, can win his own ball and doesn't mind the verbal either.

I am not surprised at all. He played that very same role for Vic Country and also at Geelong Falcons.

He is a project player that offers our list a lot going forward.

He was also a midfielder when he was a member of the Swans Academy when he lived in Sydney.

Not that it's really relevant. But I'm saying that even though I know a lot about him, I'm still impressed that he could shift from a role in defence to be BOG in his first time playing midfield since some stints at EP last year.

We have quite a few wall flowers on our list , Nelson is not one of them.

In time I can see him being an annoying , antagonistic, agro, tough at it midfielder.

For those who care to see how he can play as a mid go back and watch his tape pre being drafted.

There is a bit of Beau Waters in him albeit a lot more controlled.

yeah i reckon he will be end up being a massive bargain pick for us. slid far because of his athletic profile. could end up being like a rory sloane type pick. Probably not as quick but a bargain pick nonetheless.
