Just read on another site that a kid named Adam Rowles has been racking up possession for the West Perth Colts almost at will. Has had 45 possessions or more 3 weeks straight.

My question is, what is the quality of the Colts like? Do his many touches mean he is quality, or just an above average kid playing in an ordinary comp? Would he be a draft possibility?

When Chad Rintoul played in the WAFL for East Freo he was a ****in fiesty nugget of a bloke

WAFL colts competition is not of that high a standard, say compared to the Victorian under-19s.

You will have your quality kids in there who will be racking up like 40-50 touches a game, but overall the standard isn't that high.

"While it is virtually impossible nowadays to pull off an old-fashioned sting by hiding a young gun away in the bush until draft day, every recruiter still dreams of pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

The last big shock at the draft table was probably Luke McPharlin, who Hawthorn selected at No. 10 in the 1999 national draft. He didn't play in the national championships and had only been sighted once for East Fremantle colts."

Adam ROWLES could be one of these players as could Nick SAS. SAS was injured and not selected for the Under 18 championships but ROWLES has been racking up the possesions constantly and I was suprised not to see him in the WA under 18 squad.

hmmmmmm its interesting that Bonson kid.

It's so hard to pick a guy up in the draft though, when they haven't been sighted much....

What is the best standard of football for WA players that are looking to be drafted???

Jeff Farmer didn't play a WAFL game. Straight from Tammin to Melbourne. There is also the case of Adelaide (I think) hiding someone from the eyes of other selectors last year. The idea appeals to a lot of clubs because they hopefully get a very good player way down in the draft.

WAFL Colts or PSA. If the kid is really special, sometimes they will play seniors in the WAFL, but apparently there is a new rule that you can't play the kids in the seniors anymore?

Or that the clubs just don't do it..?

I've seen this guys all play colts. Im quite impressed with the standard of the colts to be honest and i dont think you guys are spot on saying its of a low quality.

Dont rate Rowles or Sas to be honest compared to the midfield that the State 18's have this year. Namely Farren Ray, Jacob Surjan, Matt Priddis, Justin Wilson, Daniel Chidlow and Adrian Curley.

Surjan for Souths had 41 possessions against WP and Moody kicked 6 against WP in the grand final last year. These two boys have played league for the Bulldogs. It's all about performing against good teams.

Unless I'm mistaken i will be very suprised if anyone other than the 7 major WA players are drafted this year namely

Matt Moody - great mark and kick for goal
Jacob Surjan - ambidextrious lightening fast onballer
Kepler Bradley - aerobic capacity of a 10k runner for ruckman
Farren Ray - quality hardball gets player
Brent Hall - quality ruckman and agile
Michael Pettigrew - KPP great hands
Matthew Spencer - ruck/kpp. WA's best performed in colts

Im also willing to throw Paul Duffield,Daniel Chidlow and Chris Johnson in the mix, all capable of devastating the opposition and all have been consistently good player week in week out.

Other than that i dont see to many suprises this year.

Rowlesy goes to my Skool - awesome player should get a look in the draft.;)

If he was good enough he'd be in the State 18's midfield. Wasnt impressive in the games i've seen him play but his form of late is lightening.

Being pessimistic but i dont think he will get a look in this year

I stand by my comments, if Rowles was good enough he would have made the State 18's. In playing against a good side (South Fremantle colts) he only had 16 possessions and wasn't noticed at all.

I wonder how he will perform when Bradley, LeCras and Pettigrew get back on the field for Wests.

Hope the kid can keep the form up and prove me wrong!

Although I've only seen him once, I wouldn't be shocked if Curley (sp??) goes at some point in the draft. He really impressed me during that WA/SA game, but I don't know if that was just a flash in the pan or what....??

Yeah it's definitely a hard one to call. I'm a fan of Curley but he is very inconsistent. One day he is untouchable and the next is absolutely woeful. Worth persisting with I think though.

Be interested to see who the draft picks that arent in the WA team will be as there have to be some smokeys.

The reason Rowles didn't get a guernsey was because they already had a player for his position (Moody). Could be one to slip under the radar.

Just coming back from injury and didn't play a full game. Still managed to get more possesions than Lecras and Pettigrew.

Got a chance to see Rowles play today. Listen wasn't to bad but gets a ****-load of easy possessions and when physical pressure is applied to him is rendered useless. Be interested to see how many possies he gets though.

Adam Rowles back to 46 possessions this week.
Kepler Bradley had 23 possessions in the same game.
I don't know what he does with his possessions but any kid who can find the ball that many times in a game is worth watching.

Not sure how accurate these possessions given are alstar. Kid played a good game, wasn't to bad but alot of these cheap received possessions i noticed. 20m chip kicks etc. I noticed this because i was actually looking for him in the game. Didnt really have an impact for bulk of possession though!
