We have the Colts GF on Saturday night at Subi, between Peel and Claremont. Bit of talent between these 2 teams with the likes of Neates, Weedon, Winmar, Colyer, Fyfe, Davies on one hand and Wilson, Luff, Black, Morabito (not playing), Brown, Butcher, Bennell on the other.

At midday on Sunday we have the Falcons v Sowfs in the reserves GF. WP had names like Chambers, Duckworth, Bewick, James, Keunen listed in their team last week. Souths would have players like Adams x 2?, Smithers, Phillips, Siegert? playing.

The League GF is between the first and second placed teams on the WAFL ladder. Souths finished 2-3 games clear and would enter as raging hot favourites. Simply for the fact that it would appear to signal the end of Subi's domination of the WAFL, most want Souths to win. Can Subi overcome the fairly tough road to the finals they've had? Souths had the bye on the second last round of fixtures and then rested last week, so they've played twice in 4 weeks, therefore should be rested and raring to go.

Why Souths can win - pace and running, simple as that. If you leave Souths to their own devices they will cut you up. They have a great running fleet in Bell, McGrath, Miller, Hams x 2, Adams, Smithers, Siegert, Dell'olio, Farmer, Wilkie. They have Graham, who should have a great tussle with Rix, Bossong, Hunt and Wilson in fine form down the spine, providing plenty of crumbs for the mosquito fleet to dine out on. In the last 4 games I don't think a side has gotten within 10 goals of them. It may be a final swan song for McGrath and Bell, who knows? The runners will be well rested and ready to, well run......

Why Subi can win - experience and bigger bodies, especially in the wet. Don't underestimate the value of a bit of thuggery, enter D Chick - he had the Swans boys looking over their shoulders most of the first half last week. I anticipate a Chick v Farmer pairing, in which case there will be no rules!:thumbsu: If Subi can control the tempo of the game and keep Souths from getting their hands on the ball, through Fletcher, Bristow, Hildebrandt, Chick, Keevers, Broadhurst, Randall, Stenglein, Pickett and Cossom. If Pickett can provide one more burst like he did in the second quarter against Swans, wow, he was dynamite, then anything can happen. Make no mistake, rain will be Subi's biggest ally on Sunday. Then Subi have club stalwarts and greats in Smith and Pickett going out.

Prediction - Makes for an interesting Grand Final but Souths by a comfortable margin!

After spending most of the night in hospital, I have my balnket, pillow and bottle of water in anticipation for the WAFL GF in less than 10 minutes

Carn Subi boys, we have our work cutout for us.

Go Souths and does anyone have access to live streaming?

No :(, i've looked everywhere for it, but i'm enjoying listening to it via the perth now website :thumbsu:

Go you Bulldogs, 47pts up at 3 quarter time.

Yeh listened to it via the Perth ABC radio site, good win by Souths and great to hear the ressies also won.

Just ended
SF 17-11 113
SU 13-17 95

Margin of 18 pts

Great to see $ubiaco dumped ... even if it was Souths

Peel 8pts up at half time in the Colts and Claremont kicked 14 gls to 2 to win by over 10 goals against the Thunder

SF beat WP in the Reserves (dunno the margin)

We were good for about the first 15 minutes and that was it. Way, way too many skill errors, basic kicking and handballing was poor all day and it ultimately cost us the game.

I didn't think South were all that great but they made us pay whenever we made a wrong decision or made an error in general play.

Very disappointing to end this way as that will probably be the end of an era of sorts for Subiaco with so many retirements. Brad Smith, Alistair Pickett, Chad Fletcher, Tyson Stenglien and David Mapleston are all retiring, I wouldn't be surprised if Luke Newick followed them also. But I suppose that gives the next new breed of youngsters a chance to make a name for themselves at League level.

Looking forward to the WAFL season in 2010.

Was at the game today and IMO the final score made the flattered Subiaco.
One comment from the game, no wonder Fletcher retired. Can get the ball as well as anyone but I've never seen a guy miss so many easy targets as he does.

Souths were down to one fit player in the last quarter and it showed as they ran out of legs. It was a good thing souths were up by 48 going into the last otherwise it would have been interesting.

Great day for the club. :)

Rocked up early to see the double, wasnt let down.

Ressies got up by 21 points but it should have been alot more. Dominated general play but couldnt convert in front of goal. 30 scoring shots, managed 9 goals.

Looked like it could have been a boilover at half time until young Brandon Matera decided to turn it on. Kicked an absolute gem from a clearance, roved the ruck knock and had ball to boot before anyone else could blink.

Also jagged a set shot from a difficult angle 50 out, against the breeze.

Does some things that few others can, when he plays on instinct he is superb, little suspect when he has to hold the ball up and spot a target.

Some kind of hook foot as well, but his ability to spot targets, weight the ball to advantage and crumb from a clearance is pretty impressive.

League was fantastic, out worked Subi for 3 quarters, lost a few along the way but the end result was to die for. Spoke to Craig White after the game, broken jaw courtesy of a parting blow from Stenglien.

Felt sorry for Smithy, poor bastard was out on his legs, just couldnt move freely.

Had to laugh in the last, Ressies players were getting tanked in the pocket chanting league players names, Toby and the like were celebrating the clubs 13th premiership early in the last.

Hams brothers played out of their skin again, thought our defence was very, very good. Pretty tight unit with Bossong and Hunt holding up the two key posts with good support from the Hams brothers, helped by a two way midfield.

Belly showed his class in flashes, Farmer was ok without being great, Callum Wilson was outstanding from CHF played the role perfectly and capped his day off with 5 goals. Unlucky not to get the Simpson IMO.

Anyway, great day for the club good day at the footy and how shit is Midstrength?

Congrats to Souths, was a good GF and Subi kept trying to the end, didn't capitulate, as it looked like they might in the third.

Ashton Hams absolutely deserved the Simpson, picked him half way through the last to win it. Love the Hams brothers, would love them in black and white! :p
