Not sure that Browney did himself any favours for getting a contract extension - 1 possession to half time according to The Worst (not sure how he went in the second half).

Schammer on the other hand, played a blinder and racked up 34 possessions for the game.

That overstates his influence. He lead well but his work when he didn't have the ball was bordering on pathetic

I watched the tape today, and I agree with you. Doesn't go hard enough at the contest and only takes marks out in front. Really needs to work on his pack marking, if he doesn't have space to lead into he's out of the contest.

Murph seems to play from behind, rather than in front - I'm not sure why he would do this? The delivery into the forward line from the Souths midfield wasn't too flash though. You can certainly see why Miller made it to the eagles rookie list, but then didn't go any further - he gets his hands on the ball easily and works incredibly hard, but his disposal is poor. Duff did alright when Souths started getting on top in the second half.

I thought Duffman was good. I was surprised he only had 23-24 possessions, watching the game it looked like he had it 30+ times. Playing as a midfielder during a WAFL finals campaign will be good for him, hopefully he can find 4-5 kilos over summer and spend some time in the centre square for Freo next year.

Gilmore was told by Freo not to play due to a thigh strain yesterday. It'll be interesting to see if he plays this week because he dominates at WAFL level.

The rumours suggest Duff is looking elsewhere for more opportunities - I think a few of the younger guys have gone past him this year, especially Foster and quite possibly even O'Brien. His biggest problem is his disposal - he has no problems getting the ball, but he's of no use if he's only going to hand it straight to the opposition 20 times a game.

Gilmore will be very interesting. He does tend to play very well at WAFL level and would be going in full of confidence - most other times he's taken a bit of a battering at AFL level before dropping back, so he should be a huge boost for Souths.

Whenever Duffield played seniors he seemed to have a mission:

Run around in circles and find innovative ways of getting caught with the ball.

You say that like it's a bad thing Lach.

Really, we should see it as a positive that he's innovative - if only he could find a way to use his talents for good, and not evil. :D

WAFL Prelim today on ABC from 2pm.

Murphy and Duffield playing for Souths.
Rumble playing for Subi, with Old Man Parks named on the extended interchange bench.

I wonder if we have told Happy not to play, or if he is still not 100%?

Murphy is running amok at Subi. Has a bag of 5 at 1/2 time. :thumbsu:

That young Richie Rich (one of the all conquering Under 18's side) for Subi looks like a good midfield prospect as well.

Fergus Watts eat your heart out.

Duff was terrible again today. I really can't see any point keeping him on the list anymore. I'd hate to see him stay if someone like Webster gets the chop. I think I'd even rather see McManus stick around for another year than keep Duff.

Murph was very, very good. Had a great first half, presented very well and kicked well too. If only he had done that in the pre-season....

Second half was pretty tough for anyone from Souths - Murph again presented well on the very few occasions the ball actually made into the forward line, but the delivery to the forwards was badly affected by the immense pressure Subi applied.

Was good to see old man Parks get through the game - would be quite a fitting way for his career to end if he can walk away with premiership next week.

Fair comment chook , anyone have any idea about young Delmenico (i.e. how old etc) and whether he is elligible for F/S.

He had a big job today on Smith and did a fair job IMO.

It was my fault IP. I stopped watching at 1/2 time when Mrs Ripper got home from the smoke.

No Ripper. Breathe easy - you're safe.

I sat down to fill in half an hour in front of the box watching some mindless thing with my 8 year old, waiting for 2 o'clock to roll around. I promptly dozed off (OMG I'm getting old.... :o), only to wake up just as they were coming back after half time.

I firmly believed Subi would win the game, but was delighted to learn it was just a 7 point game. Yay - we're right in it!! Woo-hoo...

The rest, as they say... is history. My fault Rip - not yours... :(

Are you serious, Duffield has been good every game he has played with us. Every player has bad games every now and then
