His asset is his pace and attack on the ball , at afl level he wont have the repeat effort needed , he needs more games in him better they are at wafl level , will also make him that bit hungrier
Don't mistake Darling's lack of hunger for anything more than it's WAFL, meh, to him. He played like this when 17 and going to get drafted. Plays to the level he is playing at. He wasn't even great today, but still kicked 5. I reckon he was instructed to go easy today and see how he pulled up.
Actually thought it was Colledge and Johnson, in the main, that got EP back into that game today.

Wonder if Darls will the sub next week, could see that happening to ease his way in. If so, may not be the best idea to drop Fmac, since it'll leave JK on his own for 3 quarters or so. Of course, we'll still have a resting ruckman there, so it won't be too bad...

Not sure on the merits of a tall as the sub. If a smaller player goes down and needs to be subbed we would be exposed as too tall.

Give Jack the next 2 weeks in the WAFL (we have the bye after Essendon) and have him cherry ripe for Richmond.

Too many snaps from congestion with his back to goal. I don't know if it's just a lack of support or also a lack of awareness, at times he looks really decisive as a stoppage player but just doesn't hold onto the ball long enough to make the right decision.

He reminds me a little of Strijk when he went through the middle before he was culled by his heart problem. Not as explosive or good by foot but has some similarities to how he runs the lines from congestion.

He's gone from back flank to midfield and i like his progress.

We have the bye after Richmond. Agree with you we should bring him in for that game though.

Bye is after Richmond not before

The AFL in their wisdom has us playing Richmond after their bye in Melbourne against an Eagles side coming off a 6 day break

2 consecutive six day breaks.

I have a hunch that the bye will be bad for Richmond though.

Had 11 disposals 4 tackles and 2 goals last week and nothing bad was said. This week has a stinker with only 8 touches and 2 tackles. He also didn't have a great first year.
Not everyone can come out and dominate like Nelson and Duggan early on. Players do develop at different rates. Young players can be inconsistent.

We now have 24 players that I would like to see in the starting 21.

I will have to sleep on a solution of how to achieve that.

I'd say he's been fairly consistent over his first 2 seasons thus far, 6 league games in each.

AVG 10.1d, 2.1M, 2.1tackles, 0.5 goals a game in 2015.

AVG 10.5d, 1.5M, 2.3tackles 0.3 goals a game in 2014.

I'm all about stats. Stats stats stats. They tell a story. They don't lie.

What is Lycett's problem? I didn't see the game but judging by the stats he didn't go all that well?
He didnt have heaps of possessions but actually played ok apart from a couple of poor kicks. Played more forward than ruck. Took a few contested marks and kicked a couple of goals.

Darling, Ellis and Newman have looked afl class.

Wouldn't bring them in next week against Essendon would wait until the Richmond away game.

Very often at AFL level players play great first up from injury break, then hit the wall and play very shit the
next week.
Happen's so often these days.
Given East Perth play next sunday and the game is a Friday night against Richmond - I wouldn't imagine any player missing Essendon, playing for EP and then coming up for Richmond. I'd expect the likes of Ellis, Barrass et al to miss next weeks EP game in case they are required.

So Jack either plays 3 or 4 games with EP or he comes in next week

Yes
Has he suddenly hit some rich vein of form i don't know about?
Not quite yet , its frustrating watching east perth, the poor kicking and handballibg , turnovers , the skill level of Newman , Darling and Ellis would look even better if the quality players were around them . Maybe the quality of the tv coverage , the atmosphere compared to Afl lessens things too.

Bloody hell you've got a chip on your shoulder about non-Eagles listed East Perth players!

You guys are absolute masters at picking key position players out of WA. Don't know if there's a common denominator who's responsible for the scouting and selections of Darling, McGovern, McInness, Sinclair (I know he was a Vic expat), Colledge (whilst not being developed as a KPP), Barrass has made enormous improvements this season and Powell is only just getting used to league football but it's evident that there is definitely something there. Darling was the only obvious call out of the lot of them, so to identify these guys considering that most of them were considered marginal talents in the under 18 system is very impressive. I make that point as I was watching on with envy as Darling dominated the game yesterday in his first step back into a competitive match situation.

How much has Ryan Davis improved since he was with you guys five or so years back? Having a brilliant year. You could see that he was a pretty damaging sort of player back then with his powerful running and kicking, but I don't remember him ever really getting enough of the footy. Is he just that much fitter these days or is it something else?

Davis at Wafl level has the responsibility , same with notte, I think with the eagles with all their injuries more responsibility to players like , sheppard ,hill , butler they have thrived with the responsibility thrown upon them . As for picking key players in wafl and identifying talent , that is a talent all on its own
