Will it happen? I don't know but aren't they unreal to watch!

Tonight the Melbourne Storm beat the reigning premiers, Wests Tigers 46-4 in front of 12,500. They beat St.George at St.George. Can anyone stop them?

What do you all think? Will they slip up or continue their merry way to a premiership?

That was the best thing about this arvo's performance. :)

The Storm will be the next Victorian team to win a football premiership. AFL no chance, soccer no chance, Union not even started yet.

How long will it take before parochial Vic sports fans wake up and get behind the Storm? Take the blinkers off

Imagine if they win the thing?

We'll have loads of BF posters trying to convince us the Storm was "their" team. ;)
Isn't that a good thing, AuckMel?

It was great in 1999 to see the support that the Storm got, even if just 10% of those stayed to be loyal supporters then its a good thing.

I would say Melbourne have some of the best supporters in the game. I believe that if Melbourne were to lose every game there would still be the loyal 8,000 there every week. The same can't be said for Souths and Auckland. Although they do have a loyal following, I don't think it compares with the Storm supporters.

OP won't be anywhere near big enough for the 1 v 8 game just around the corner.
Are they planning to have it at Olympic Park or somewhere else. I have a feeling that it will be a Melbourne -v- Penrith semi and if that is the case then I'll be there. Penrith to win!!!

imagine the preliminary final if the storm get the home game there. surely 20k isn't big enough right ?

I would have thought there would have been 15k+ last night. got my tickets (3 of them) friday lunchtime and all were sold out except for general admission either end of the ground.

I did look like 15,000+ and I'm sure that the Melbourne home semi would get a very decent crowd. Dare I say, 30,000+.

Also, can someone correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't a deal been established where the Grand Final Qualifiers are played at the higher ranked teams home ground if out of Sydney (eg. Melbourne, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane, N.QLD, Auckland)

Imagine that, the Grand Fnal Qualifier- Melbourne -v- St.George at the MCG. I'd imagine a really good crowd would be on show.

OK, I want a decent crowd, but I want to win even more. ;)

There is absolutely no ****ing way our home semi will be played anywhere but Olympic Park. No one wants to play at the **** hole known as Telstra Dome, and we will not give up our home ground advantage to move to the MCG.

It will be at Olympic Park, guaranteed.

Exactly! If Manly made it, would you see them move from Brooky? Would the Cowboys play away from Dairy Farmers? No, they wouldnt.

If we make the semi's, we'll get 20,000 at Olympic and that's good enough!

GO STORM!

You'd struggle to fit 20,000 into Olympic Park. I don't see it being moved from OP, however if it was at TDome, they can get up to and beyond 25,000 - 35,000.

And why would you move it when they don't loose there either.

The atmosphere at Olympic would be superb however.

I know this won't/can't happen... but it would be an ideal situation to really see where League is in Victoria by holding the Perliminary Final at say, the Telstra Dome to see what kind of crowd they can get. Providing the Storm earnt the game there.

Home ground advantage in Week One only, unless you have a situation like Cowboys v Broncos. All other games in Sydney.

Surely the NRL have to step in line with the AFL and award finals based on merit, but keep the grand final in Sydney. Sure there have been some anomalies with AFL finals, but it's a fairer system than NRL.

I look forward to the day when the Storm, Broncos, Cowboys, Titans, Warriors and Raiders finish in the top 6 positions :)

And they still arent Premiership favourites.

What a joke.
