Has to put up with Healy,Sheenen and Wallsy.

The Main Questions will be about Dids,Heater and Cousins

They'll probably ask him about his own career too, in which case he'll give the "I'll sit down with Mick" line. In reality, if MM wants him to play on, he will in a heartbeat.

Footy Classified will probably have more of the same stuff you mentioned, Cousins etc.

Hopefully Wakelin takes Walls to the cleaners after his article about Malthouse being to old. Unlikley but would be interesting.
Did i just here this right or have i got all wrong. Im reading between the lines but i feel Wakes wants Dids out of the club quick smart. I have taped it so might rewind a few times but he clearly said he has his idea on what should happen but the club will make the decision

Yeah i thought that too when he said he has is own opinion on the matter but he agree with what the club decides,by the way I thought Wakes handled himself very well spoke great

No, I think it was entirely unclear which way he meant it. He really didn't give it away at all.

He is way too smart for that.

Hope your right, but he also said, and i have re-wound the tape a few times to get the wording exactly right, on Dids he said

(We have given him an opportunity and Mick has given him an opportunity over the last couple of years to prove he is over his behavioral problems. He has obviously let the club and the supporters down 3 weeks ago and I hope this is a foundation for a new era for the club).

(From a clubs point of few its a decision that will be made when the dust has settled but I have got my opinion. The leader ship group will not be involved and the ceo, Eddie and the club will make the decision.

Im nervous i don't want him to go

Well Wakes is the 1st player to say he want Dids out of the Club.

What did he say about Cousins?

Not a word on cousins, but talked about us being an honest football team and we pride ourselves on what we can do for our team mates. MM has a good understanding on the way the cats play footy and we line up well against the cats and the swans. Said Burns should be ok just got a kick in the calf but will know the results tomorrow.

There was no mention of Cousins.

I wouldn't be reading anything into what he said about Didak. I think he was just towing the club line. When he said he had his opinion I was very surprised Mike didn't push further.

Wakes impresses me with every interview he does. Great speaker, great man! :)

He didnt say that at all, he didnt even imply that. I think the above posters have taken what he said the entirely wrong way.

Well im one poster who hasnt taken it the wrong way and that is why i have quoted word for word on what he said tonight on the couch. I have clearly stated i might be reading between the lines but i seem to get an uneasy feeling on the outcome that may be ahead off us.

It would be hard to imagine that the entire group is unanimous in wanting to keep Didak next year.

His support was always going to come from players he knocks about with and the guys closer to his age.
The ones against keeping him would be the older players who are a lot more professional in their approach.

Either way, I'm not reading too much into what Wakes said as I think he was just playing it with as straight a bat as possible.

Well Footy Classfied did have Cousins but all it was Hutchy having a Cry about not knowing about Cousins

Spoke very well Wakes, good job :thumbsu:

I would'nt read anything into his response re Dids, some on here are reading way too much into it.

He handled himself extremely well & if given an opportunity as an Assistant coach or another role within the club, I would be more than happy.

Judging by last night's performance, when Wakes writes his autobiography he can call it, "How To Speak Without Actually Saying Anything".

A career in politics beckons.

It's not as though he would have been unprepared for that question, he could have rehearsed a perfectly ambiguous answer for us all days in advance.

Spot on. Anyone watching last night looking to get some insight would have been left a little disappointed.

That said, he followed the club line perfectly and I think that is all you really want from Wakes.

Incidentally, I heard his brother on TripleM prior to the Port game and he spoke in a similar fashion - almost identical!

He's now a director at Port - something Wakes could be looking at down the track.

Not sure how everyone else reads into this, but I interpret the comment as that the indiscretions by Shaws and Didak have been the impetus the players needed to pull their heads in and become a group totally focused on their footy, hence creating a new era of absolute professionalism.

What does everyone else think?

I think it was also a hint to something Bucks has said in that in the past, the leadership has not been allowed to hand out the punishment they wanted too. I think he is seeing this as a first step foward to players actually being pulled into line for off field indescretions regardless of what type of player they are.

I agree and also agree with Shawthing09. We have had so many incidents in the past (Tarrant, Johnson, Morrison, Didak last year) where the hard line has not been taken. It has been now and I think it has hit home.

I posted this in another thread but the thing that has stood out the most for me the last 3 weeks since the Shaw/Didak incident has been the form of Swan, Davis, Maxwell, O'Brien, Cloke and Pendlebury. These guys have been the backbone behind our wins and have all stood up and taken some responsibility on. Thomas was great in the St Kilda game also.

This is the foundation for a new era I think Wakes was talking about and a culture shift for the club with this group having a bigger influence. I think Swan will drag Heater and Dids with him. He's had his problems in the past but has grabbed his second chance.

It is this new influential group that may spell the end of R. Shaw and Johnson I am thinking.

^ It would be interesting if while preaching "forgiveness" and "second chances", and potentially bringing Ben Cousins to the club, we moved Johnson and R Shaw on to other clubs.

Depends on how you look at it. If the Club believes that Johnson and R. Shaw are a negative influence on the playing group then I think they could be entitled to move them on.

I can't comment on what type of influence Cousins had on the WC playing group but it is something I would hope we had investigated before we supposedly offered a contract.
