I think this is starting to change...Mike Sheahan referred to him as a "gun" today:thumbsu:

I didnt see that and it is good to see Jamo getting the credit he deserves :thumbsu:

great news about Jammo, although Walker took rehab over surgery and look what happened. Any way, hope he gets this right because we need this absolute gun full back!

As long as Walker is getting the best and latest and he is confident to come back in 2010.

Fantastic to hear that Jamo will be back so soon. With that news I would probably expect to see him return our round 6 match against Hawthorn.

As for Walks it is terribly disappointing that he has gone down again but he is too valuable to give up on. Give him as long as he needs, plus more time, to recover from this and get back to his best. There is absolutely no need to risk him at all this season so I look forward to seeing him in 2010.
The next op will probably involve a bone graft.

Big op. VERY big. Gone this year. Should start pre-season o.k., but I think we should talk about Walks much the same as we talk about Harts......or how Bombers fans SHOULD talk about Gumbleton........only speak of him and what he could do after he PROVES he can stay fit.

Look at Clokey. It's not impossible to return from multiple shoulder reco's and go alright (Clokey doesn't even wear tape anymore), but its probably the exception rather than the rule.

Jammo will have another op at seasons end IMO. They will be hoping he doesn't throw it out after he comes back this time. To sublux while spoiling the footy is pretty bad and given we expect September action he will have a delayed pre-season. On of Aussie or Setanta need to see this as a chance and step up.:thumbsu:

Not a big fan of Barry Hall and Ryan O'Keefe??

i mean more about the other teams dont have an abundance of big forwards that requires us to have many big backmen!

Walker's season over, but Jamison gets better news

Dr Greg Hoy, regarded as one of the pre-eminent shoulder surgeons in Australia, recommended the Bristow-Latarjet procedure as the best option for the dejected 22-year-old who learned yesterday that, for the second consecutive year, his season was ruined.

While the Bristow-Latarjet procedure has been practised for some time, it is rarely employed in the first instance because the nature of the surgery means that a patient's shoulder movement will be permanently restricted.

The up-side is that the shoulder joint is tightened so much that the likelihood of another dislocation is limited. When he resumes playing, Walker will have to learn to adapt to his physical limitations.

"He's obviously very disappointed and frustrated, but now that he's met with Greg he's very optimistic about this operation and the procedure that will be performed," Carlton football manager Steven Icke said yesterday.

"It involves a bone graft that's used to block the movement of the shoulder. It's a procedure that will probably, to some degree, limit his flexibility, but it will certainly help to limit any further dislocations."
For Walker, this will be the fourth shoulder operation in his 81-match senior career — the No. 2 draft pick of 2003 will complete a set of two on each side with this operation — but it will be his first Bristow-Latarjet procedure.
Nothing to worry about when a player has to have an operation this "last resort" to keep playing.

The operation will only affect Walker's quality of life.

That's more important than his football career.

I agree Austin must come in for Jammo. No one else should be tried first up.

Apparently Austin is still recovering from OP surgery..

Austin is coming back from a quad strain and is due for his first hit-out for the Ants this weekend. He'll need some match fitness before coming into consideration for a senior call up.

To shed some (positive) light on Jamo's injury, it was most likely the knock in the Tigers game that did it.

When he did his shoulder last year, he damaged about 3/4 of the labrum, which he had operated on. This time he did the other 1/4, which is positive in that it is not a recurrence of the previous injury.

He's confident that he'll only miss a week and will be back for the Swans game.

Real shame about Tex though.
