Walker is going backwards

Bloody hell some carlton supporters shit me, give the guy a break. Walker is a good player, he just had a bad game. I know he had 30 possies, but some where pretty bad. He is still young and has show some great signs about taken it too the next level. Last week against essendon, he was great. He will come good..:thumbsu:

Anyone who thinks Walker's disposal will improve at this stage of his career is kidding themselves.
His disposal was much better earlier in the season - but dropped off in a big way after that Hawthorn game where he got injured. Disposed well last week, this week in the first half not so well.

Re: Andrew Walkers Game

Had a shocker. Lost his confidence which will happen when a player with aspirations plays in a basically meaningless game. Gave blatant frees away and turned the thing over all day. We need to get these blokes into a position where they have something to aim at. I see this at the end of every year, supporters can't wait until the season is over. How must the players feel?

Most of you posters on here have to seriously stop blaming individuals and realise that a few bad kicks from one player doesn't equal an 82 point loss. The team that played today showed how much a few mature bodies can make to a team, ours is very raw, a few years away yet.

Walker will be our BEST player, I believe is not playing well atm for his standards but this is why I think he is so good because he is going to get much better. His form before he injured that shouder was very good so don't tell me his gone down hill. every player goes in and out of form.

Best game was his first and its been all downhill from there. 80 odd games - really should be better by now than he is

Load of rubbish...Walker didn't have a good game today, despite getting a fair bit of the ball, but he's played plenty of bloody good ones in the last couple of years...he hasn't looked at his sharpest since coming back from injury a couple of weeks ago, but he's been a very good player for us and he has improved his disposal by foot a lot. He just didn't have a good game today...

...but who did? Hopefully next year we'll play him more on the wing (which I think is his natural position) rather than half-back or third tall, which he plays a fair bit due to our lack of decent defenders.

He has, has he?

Re: Andrew Walkers Game

what? Walker turned it over...arghh shock horror...this bloke has been doing it since he started and will always be the clanger king.
classic athlete with no brain.

He has, has he?

Yes, he has. He delivers some pin point passes now that he wouldn't have even attempted a few years ago...and he did some today, but he also made some mistakes today. Like I said, he hasn't looked anywhere near as sharp since he came back from injury a couple of weeks ago, but prior to that his delivery by foot for us this year has been good.

Some fickle people on here will look at his poor game today and say he hasn't improved, rant rave, blah blah blah, but it's bullshit. He is a very good player for us, and one ordinary game (or a couple) in a meaningless nothing game that we were never going to win doesn't make him any lesser a player.

They play him on the left side of the ground. He gets the ball, runs around the wing and kicks on his left foot. Result? Poor disposal - coughs it up, or delivers half volleys to the forwards or kicks it out of bounds. I was there against Essendon last Saturday and saw him do it at least a half a dozen times. Why doesn't he play on the right side of the ground where he would favour his right foot?

Anybody else notice this?

How can be going backwards when he's had 61 possessions in the past two games? :D

The fickle supporters always disappear and go to ground when he has a great game like he did against Port. But they're ready and waiting to jump on Walker when he doesn't hit every target out of 30 disposals.

WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON!WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON! WALKER SEASON! RUSSELL SEASON!

It was terrible to see Walker stream down the wing and kick accurately on his left foot.

This is Andrew Walker who used to cry after losses at junior level, who is so determined to succeed that he is a sore looser in the rooms afterwards.

I think with Andrew, the problem is that he expects SO MUCH from himself and his team, that he is very much a confidence player. He takes it out on himself too much, and i think that is why we have seen him so up and down lately.

Oh, let's not forget.... been carrying an injury for the past few rounds and probably shouldn't be playing ;)

Dont know Walker but what is written here rings true for me. I dont see it as healthy to be this self absorbed. He looks like a guy trying to prove himself to others rather than someone who feels comfortable on a footy field. The guy has heaps of ability but his mind seems very lacking. Sounds like someone needs to help him with his outlook if he is to fulfill the potential he obviously has. In my opinion he has shown similar weaknesses to today throughout his whole career. Having said this Carlton needs players of his ability so I really hope he can sort himself out.

Possessions dont mean everything. Guys like Walker and Carrazzo can get 60 between them and often will not be anywhere near as effective as guys like Murphy with 20. Walker and Carrazzo and a few others at Carlton need to become more damaging with their possessions.

He has been off since he came back from the injury.
Not sure why this has effected his kicking but his whole game is off.

Fumbled the ball, didn't take off..........he just looked mentally "off" today.

The end of the year has already come for some players - expect a loss next week.

Walker was more effective than any other midfielder in one game and you're exaggerating the difference between his best and his worst. I think he is carrying an injury since he struggled to raise his right arm in one contest.

He killed Burgoyne.

Let me know when Murphy gets 30 possessions in a game again. :)

GEERR----RATE.

Another heavy loss and another week of Carlton supporters tearing eachother and the players to shreds.

Good point. Boys deserved a real pat on the back today. Champion efforts all round.

Just watched the replay....didn't see much wrong with the effort, but clangers galore!

Walker absolutely tied himself in knots with frustration today. Frees against, clangers etc......not once did I see him not try.

No-one's handing out "pats". They all looked disgusted with today. Played like a team with no confidence, only Waite really backed himself all day.
