Not thinking "now" like many, Warnock, by the end of his career, will finish light years ahead of Hampson. Physically development is slower but when he does a strong 6'11" ruckman will be gold.

Short term thinkers will think "now" and go Hampson, those that think a bit more longer term, hence with smarts, will think overall career. A few late developing ruckmen going around.

Harks, his tap work on the weekend was pretty good, but really, to call it sensational is a bit over the top. Have another look at the first quarter where at least 3 of his taps went straight to Essendon players. And I don't mean they were sharked, they went straight to them (one of them he actually tapped to Hille!).

Also, you'd hope his body starts to fill out soon, cos he just doesn't look like a presence in marking contests around the ground. Gets out-bodied far too easily. In the Dogs game, Hudson just shoved him out of the way and grabbed it out of the ruck on heaps of occasions (he did that to Matty as well, but just sayin').

As soon as Hampson comes back this poll will reverse itself pretty quick.

Warnock averages 4 more disposals & 10 more hitouts.

As HARKER posted above, Warnock gets more frees whilst Hampson gives away more than double the frees that Warnock does. Free kick statistics for ruckman are very important.

Warnock averages the 8th most hitouts in the competition compared to Hampson who comes in 22nd.

Warnock also averages more tackles - another important stat.

They average about the same marks and scores.

Warnock at his best is lethal prospect. He gives excellent use. We just need him to be consistent.

This is an insightful observation. Not at the playing ability of either player but the posting tendencies of the majority on here. :thumbsu:

I believe 206 has the most upside on our list. Could be a dominant figure in the league in a few years. I remember watching him in his 1st season at the dockers. Had amazing agility and skills for a guy his size.
warnock now easily.
warnock then by a mile.

Bemused by the poll results. Warnock could be a dominant ruckmen. People are still thinking of "that" missed goal against Geelong but we now know he has a fair reason for missing that. Hampson has shown glimpses of improvement but is still a liability against the better sides.

Would prefer to keep both but start Warnock.

I haven't chosen cause I honestly can't decide... as long as we keep 'em both I am satisfied

I agree and neither have I. I think ultimately, the problem is that you're comparing "Warnock as ruck plus MK as ruck/forward" with "MK as ruck/mid plus Hampson as ruck/forward". There are a heap of permutations that make things more than simply a Warnock vs Hampson debate.

There's no denying that Warnock represents the better ruck prospect, but which of the combinations above is preferred? Really, everyone's debating on potential which can only be a good thing.

I mean, let's face it, we're looking like a close to top 4 side in a season where for one reason or another all 3 of these guys have been well below par at various times. Imagine what the team will be like when 1, 2 or all 3 of them have break-out years!

Nice problem to have.

Happy to keep both. Think Hampson has perhaps more potential but who knows if he will ever reach it. The main thing that worries me of late with Warnock is how easily he seems to get bumped out of marking contests. Would love to see him plant his feet and realy hold his ground.

Well said.

It highlights the diff between a footballer first and foremost and an ahtlete trying to be a footballer.

Like we can afford to lose a ruckman. There'll always be one injured or out of form so any of the three will get opportunities.

Precisely - neither has the resilience of Jim Stynes: would be surprised to ever see one of these players get through the season without some time on the sidelines. Would hate to see Hampson go - lot of upside and would take Megan Gale with him!

I prefer Warnock playing as ruck. He just seems so good in the ruck, too bad he seems disinterested or lacks footy smarts around the ground. Really struggles to take a pack mark, every kick in to him and a pack he struggles to even bring the ball down.

Maybe we can rework Hampson to a monster KPP
