What a pickup. A big congratulations to the recruiting department finding this guy. 208cm mobile ruckman aren't a dime a dozen. I'm glad he plays for Fremantle. He has only just turned 20 years of age.

Surely that can't be right rgauci. Fremantle don't have talented young players - we traded away all our draft picks for hacks like Carr and Tarrant.

We seriously need to get this guy signed up asap. Would hate to see him leave anytime soon. I thnk having him in the team is a bit of a spur for Sandilands as a lot of his strengths are Sandi's biggest weaknesses (eg contested marking and kicking)

Going by the commentators last night I thought his name was Sandilands! I think they just save time in preparation and call everyone tall Sandilands. One passage of play last night Sandilands took a mark in the middle of the ground hand passed it to a running player who kicked it 50 metres down field to the forward pocket to Sandilands!

I knew Sandilands was mobile for his size but that was ridiculous!!

I noticed they kept calling him Sandilands. It's like the whole Troy Longmuir thing all over again!

Agreed, it was probably the biggest positive out of last night's game. He looks to be a lot more mobile than Sandi and he seems capable of actually taking a one grab mark.

And John Casey came across as an amateur. At one stage he called Matthew Carr Pavlich!

Warnock's mobility around the ground is great.

He should be a signing priority.

Unlike Sandilands (who lacks the intelligence to think on his feet), he actually thinks about where our players are and and then tries to tap it to their advantage.

I've gotta stick up for my buddy here - Sandilands regularly taps the ball to our midfielders advantage, only to see them cough it up almost as regularly. Watch the game again and then tell me he doesn't give our guys first use of the ball.

I was in awe of Warnock, he's just b ehind H-Mac at the moment and he's two years younger. That chase down on Hahn showed his want for the contest. Sign him or I'll sign an Adelaide Crows membership.

Yes, this guy is very good but IMO Andrew Swallow would have been an even better pick, and would have addressed some of our midfield issues.

You can't be serious Ysaye????

This guy has the talent to be one of the best ruckmen in the competition. His groundwork is amazing for someone his size, his skills are very good and he is a great mark and also pretty good with his tap work.

Midfielders are a dime a dozen - we just keep getting the wrong ones (the slow, short-legged fat-bottomed ones - thanks to Dr Dagg) and need to get some of the right ones at the end of this year. Warnock will be worth more to us than any midfielder could ever be.

We could have picked Swallow up in the Pre-season draft the year before but instead picked bloody Schofield. He was highly rated but thought of being a bit young.

Swallow is too similar to Hase, Bell and Josh. We want tall quick midfielders, not slow ones with poor skills.

Andrew Swallow has pace to burn. Finished top 10 at draft camp for speed.

Its his kicking which has always been questionable. Nothing has changed. Fremantle would of had a very close look at him over several years. He was developed in our backyard.

ibbo will be better than swallow anyway

i remember when we got warnock his tac coach said he should have gone top ten. if he wasnt so damn skinny he may well have

Only at Freo could we unearth a massively talented ruckman with a 3rd round pick and still have people complaining that we should've chosen someone else.

Because we obviously have such incredible depth when it comes to ruckmen don't we? I mean Warnock will never get a game will he? We obviously should've picked up another midfielder with dodgy skills instead.

Swallow is a taller (183cm) quick midfielder! - What are you talking about? - Sure his kicking was a problem but as far as I have seen it has been fixed. and on the upside, he is a ball magnet.

I am not bagging Warnock - I am just trying to make the point that when it comes to drafting, I think you need to keep the team needs in perspective.

I reckon a ruckman when you've only got one fit one would be pretty high on the list. Good ruckman are not easy to find. Good midfielders are (I know, not for us, but one day we'll start looking in the right places)

183cm makes him just an inch taller than Hase. From what I've seen he certainly doesn't look like the run and carry type player, I'll pay more attention next time the roos are on.

I'd draft a ruckman every second year. They are prone to injury and often take time to develop. We should definately take a ruckman in the second or third round this year because we only have 2 available. I'm stoked that we have Warnie because he is a good young footballer, and having him in the side means that we don't have to put up with Gilmore.

What about the team's needs for ruckmen? If we hadn't drafted Warnock we would have a grand total of one fit ruckman in our entire squad.

Edit - sorry didn't notice Chook has already said this.
