CARLTON has signed ruckman Rob Warnock to a new three-year deal.

Warnock, 25, had been spoken of as a possible recruiting target for Greater Western Sydney at the end of the season, but the former Fremantle big man was delighted to sign on with the Blues on Thursday.

Nothing against Warnock but I can't work out why the hell Carlton would resign him. He was on big $$ over from Fremantle anyway wasn't he? He isn't a part time ruckman because hes next to useless up forward. Kruzer showed on Friday night why he should be Carlton's #1 ruck, and shouldn't be a forward. Hampson is a better option to play forward and pitch hit in the ruck when Kruz needs a rest. So what is the point in signing Warnock for 3 years when hes most likely on decent cash and clogging up un needed salary cap pressure? Maybe the next Carlton person who reads this thread ready to give us a barrage of abuse can explain this for me.

Was on a reported $400k previously, not sure how much now but i would guess less than that now.

Krooze needs to be #1 Ruck and we need a back up. Hampson needs to be a perm forward or he might get traded.

Look at Warnocks Stats, he is a VERY good tap ruckman and only young.

My thoughts are Hampson will get traded, we have a heap of young forwards coming thru that keep getting injured.

Greg Denham saying re-signing doesn't mean he wont be traded, reckons it gives them a better bargaining position. Don't really see how that works.

If Carlton can't get a deal, they're left holding the bundle. I guess the anticipated Visy extension allows you to do these things.
