Regardless of what you think about Judd's performances, THIS year, he has not had a better year than the following players.

Gary Ablett, Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Matthew Boyd, Lenny Hayes, Leigh Montagna, Luke Hodge, Brendon Goddard and Paul Chapman. I know it, you know it, the media knows it and the umpires haven't a clue.

Past the half way mark the media was bashing the crap out of him, saying he was no longer in the best 15 players in the comp.... And by this time he already had polled 18 votes. I CALL BULLSHIT.

The fact that he polls well in a losing side when his disposal efficiency is part of the reason a side loses, gets off from suspension when he clearly deserved it and gets away with just about anything is a testiment to the fact that the umpires favour him for some unknown reason.

Dane Swan is questionable whether he would have won. The most consistent player but rarely had a stand out performance where you could give him the 3. However i'd argue, against port he deserved it, the second games against melbourne and carlton he also deserved it and against Geelong was close and didn't poll at all.

Gary Ablett stormed home and was a standout performer in many games in a winning team.

You know what i found odd too?? Betts and Garlett polled really average in the games where they kicked bags of 5 or 6.... Why is that?

Its funny the only players out of those you named that AFL coaches though were better than Judd this season were Swan and Hodge
even Ablett got less votes than Judd this year... i trust AFL coaches more than you bud

Round 7 is even more laughable.

Judd 30 disposals, 58% efficiency.
His direct opponent, Lenny Hayes. 28 disposals.

Judd 3 votes..

Did u see the score? We just about doubled them i think, i was there? were u? Judd dominated that one! efficiency is bullshit when your picking up the hard ball from packs with 5 opposition players around u?

Carlon vs geelong which i also attended? we won by 6 goals too and thought Juddy and ablett were pretty much on par, so i guess logic says where the votes go!?

Wait for it?? can hear u ticking, but he also got 3 against the pies when they lost by 7 goals?? think he had about 37 odd possies that day and all the clearances in the early third when we pegged back those 6? goals? him & o'helpme brought us out of trouble & it clearly showed in that manner.

However I do believe he was lucky in a few games when eduardo betts & garlett kicked arse and didnt even get a vote! I would have given garlett 3 votes for his 6 goals vs richmond or essendon? late in the season but juddy got them

Efficiency isn't bullshit. If you pick up the ball & it's coughed up to the opposition, it's meaningless.

I remember watching that game & Waite had more influence on the game, he marked everything in the 1st quarter & setup the game.

These three are the only ones who were clearly better than Judd this year. All the others it is a matter of preference.

As to Betts, well, he kicks a lot of junk time goals (like against St Kilda) and the umpires dispersed votes accordingly. Not sure why Garlett got missed in some games, only just missed out to Judd in those anyway.

Well if efficiency isn't bullshit you will be happen to know that Judd's for the year was 68% and Ablett and Swan were both 63% and if you dont believe that look it up! Everyone suffering from media questioning Judd and Ablett versus their own standards!

Couple of other quick stats for the apparent undeserved champion..... More contested possessions Avg 12.8 per game (Swan and Ablett 10 and 11 respectively) More inside 50's with an Avg 5.5 per game and More Tackles Avg 6 per game as well as being second in the league for clearances..... hmmmmm lets recap

He gets more contested ball, still disposes of the ball with greater efficiency than Swan, puts it inside 50 more times than Swan and Tackles more and is second in the league at clearances and no 1 in clearances resulting in inside 50's........

Not sure what stats Dane Swan fans are looking at probably just the disposals i would suspect!

Dane Swan's DE% was 71 and Ablett's was 74. Courtesy of AFL.com.au. The same stats centre lists Judd's at 68%, so I'm thinking you're just lying. I could be wrong though.

Ablett and Swan both had more contested possessions and inside50's in total, but Judd missed several games whereas I'm pretty sure Swan played every game. So you're right on that count. Did Ablett miss any games? I'm pretty sure he dominated the contested possession count.

+1

And it was very obvious Goddard was not going to poll anywhere close to Judd, simply because he had Hayes, Dal Santo, Montagna and Riewoldt to compete with and is notorious for back-chatting and spraying the umpires. That's the brownlow mate

Kicking bags doesn't necessarily equal 3 votes either, unless its something outrageous like 10+. J Riewoldt got 7 against the Saints in round 21 and got the medal for that game, but only got 1 Brownlow vote for it
