Play Nice Was that Gaffs last game for WC?

Here is Dean Solomon getting 8 weeks for the hit on Ling.

I would rate Gaffs at a similar level except Gaff's was further off the ball. Lings jaw was also broken from this hit.

He should get eight weeks, and then the time that Bradshaw is out of the game added on.

If Bradshaw doesn’t play until round five next year for example, Gaff is out until round 13.

Go hard, or call the police AFL; the ball is in your court.

I'd make the difference between intentional and incidental be that if it's intentional, your penalty doesn't start until the other guy resumes playing.

Yes Andrew Harris was concussed for over 3 weeks
Many jaw fractures require surgery. Because of that, patients may need to follow up with an oral surgeon. Healing time varies with the type of fracture; in general, the average time to heal a jawbone fracture takes about six weeks.

Would be fitting for Brayshaw to watch Gaff flying around the G on grand final day whilst drinking his steak out of a straw, seems legit.

Two things all you experts out their

Gaff and Brayshaw are good friends so to say this was intentional is a absolute joke.

If Gaff is so dirty, dog, thug that is getting thrown around go and search YouTube and take alook at some of the hits that our now AFL legends did and tell me if you are going to call them out.

Yes he did the wrong thing and will have to live with his actions forever but some of the things written here about a guy player a very brutal game is over the top.
Who needs enemies.......

From Ross' presser would guess that the impact is going to be severe making it Severe Impact to the head and straight to the tribunal no matter if it is Careless or Intentional

Definitely did - I jumped on here to find out because he went down like a sack of spuds but there was no replay shown on the screen at any time.
thats probably the only thing saving the crowd from looking stupid. I went on to twitter to find the footage of the hit. A few people around were listening to the radio and knew Gaff was in trouble for a hit behind the play but the big screen didnt replay it. Or if it did i missed it.

There had to be a replay shown... no freo player even knew about it till about a minute after it happened. they musta saw something and then shit popped off

No replay shown - it’s not the TV feed on the big screen. I would imagine word would have spread pretty fast on the ground but they didn’t get that from the big screen.

Sick of hearing about how out of character it was and how good his record has been. These incidents need to be looked at in isolation.

That was the single most disgusting act I’ve seen on an AFL field since Hall on Staker. Every now and then we hear of this sort of stuff happening in suburban footy and the result is usually a 12+ match suspension, or even deregistration and assault charges.

Tuesday can't come around quick enough.

I'm already sick to death of what everyone will think he will get.

And yes, it'll be a long stint.

I hope Brayshaw's ok and all the best in his recovery.

But to answer the actual question of the thread. Maybe it was Gaffy's last game for the club. I wonder how many clubs will get scared OR lower their prices now, knowing one of Gaff last actions on a field was whacking a kid in the face. It's gonna be an interesting time.

I was there they didn't show it up on the screen at all, so all the crowd saw was your players roughing him up for the rest of the game (fair enough as well). But how are they suppose to know what happened otherwise?
Many people listen to the radio. I think the WC fans behaved disgracefully. Of course not all of them. But gee what a low point in crowd behaviour. Wonder how they will feel about him sabotaging their premiership quest through his gutless and selfish behaviour?

If Gaff signs on again for WC he is going to get a pretty ugly reception around Perth I reckon. Inexcusable act, and then the tears....spare me. Definition of cowardly act.

And on field I hope he gets the hottest of receptions for the rest of his career from Fremantle, Melbourne and North Melbourne fans and players alike. The Brayshaws have epitomized fair sportsmanship, and Gaff the opposite.

According to the commentators like Kingy the main thing is that Gaff isn't too upset though.

I think that's a wilful misinterpretation of what King (and others) meant. They all expressed in one way or another how they were shocked at the violence of it; none of them were apologising for Gaff, but rather just trying to understand how he could do such a thing.

It's okay to also have empathy for the perpetrators of violence. Especially those who recognise they ****ed up.

That you make light in order to defend the indefensible is as unsurprising as it is cliched from a WCE supporter.
Obviously he will cop a suspension, but the suspension weeks predicted just so he can miss finals seems highly suspect on their intention

Ling missed 2 weeks in that incident for a cheekbone fracture. Average healing time for a broken jaw is 6 weeks give or take when surgery is required.

But you have posters in here claiming he was applauded as emotional support because he was so upset about it.
Which one is it?

I can’t speak for others, but what I said stands. It wasn’t shown at the ground and the majority of the crowd were unaware of the incident.

It wasn’t some conscious effort of mass bloodlust..
