Not doing a career analysis here

I do however ask if you could take one player for next year who would it be?
Some people might have a problem with the people included in the poll, to them I say just give your opinion
Assuming each one is fit

EDIT: Title is meant to be 2012, mods?

Hodge has had the best career with three All Australians, a Norm Smith medal and a couple of B&Fs. Mitchell had the best season out of any of the players mentioned last season, but I have the feeling we would have been saying Watson had the best year if he didn't get hurt. On that basis, probably Watson or Hodge I suppose. Hodge is the most likely to deliver a top quality season as he has done in the past, whilst Watson showed the best form last year despite Mitchell being better over the course of the year. Yeah has to be Watson or Hodge going forward.

No offence to Bartel, but he doesn't belong in this poll as he hasn't produced an All Australian year since 2008, and he hasn't shown good form consistently over a season since then. Now watch the average punter vote for Jimmy because of a couple of good finals.

I'm going to pick Hodge, just think he has that little bit of extra class over the other three and when he turns it on he is unstoppable. Bartel has it also but we don't see it as often. Watson and Mitchell ultra consistent, but at their absolute best the other two have 'it'.

Hodge and Bartel are streets ahead of the other 2 over their careers. They can change matches more than Mitchell and Watson. Prob Hodge slightly ahead of Bartel at his best, not by much at all.

Bartel easily, is the best player of the lot, runs both ways, and is sublime in big games and in the wet.

Jimmy. Love the man. His only midfield equal over the past five years for the grunt he brings is Lenny Hayes. Loved watching them play each other in the 1pt game a couple of years ago...

I'm a psychic. Nearly as funny as when Bartel bet Judd in a poll on this site recently, despite Judd being at least 7 tiers above Bartel in any all-time standings.

Voted Hodge: believe he's the most damaging player at his best, and can play effectively back, forward and centre.

A difficult poll but I think I will take the OP at his wording in regards to the guarantee of all remaining fit.

Ill go out on a limb and say that a "full season" from Watson would outdo the other three this year. His early season before injury was remarkable.

Over their careers its Bartel/Hodge > Mitchell > Watson.

Currently its got to be Watson/Mitchell > Bartel/Hodge, inside football is the most influential part of the game.

I think Bartel is currently the Dustin Fletcher of midfielders, doesn't get given the hardest jobs anymore, plays midfield half as much as he used to, but still finds ways to help his team win.

How Mitchell is only on 2 votes is beyond me. He had a better 2011 than the others by a country mile. So based on that, I will choose him first. 2nd I will go with Watson who is a dead set gun in an average Essendon midfield. 3rd Bartel and 4th Hodge. Hodge is slowing down imo and although I think he will be more than handy in 2012 the others will have better seasons

Mitchell and Watson are by far the most influential players of the four when it comes to winning games of footy.

Mitchell has done it a lot, but I would go for Watson for 2012.

Quite a few posts have been cleansed from this thread, so if you want to try your luck with a holiday, then continue to squabble and name call.

Hawk and Cat fans, I'm looking at you.

Bartel just has "that" class, "that" slickness, "that" way of making spectacular things looking easy.

He is always a major contributor no matter what position, the ultimate team player and his stats may not stick out when we're far ahead, but you know he will usually be the one that stands up when we really need him.

I reckon the list will go like this in 2012 though:

1. Mitchell
2. Bartel
3. Watson
4. Hodge

That post is 100%:o

Went with Hodge but not much between him and Bartel then a gap to Mitchell and then Watson.

Bartel. Absolute gun.

I will never forget that poll. I basically started it to prove that most football fans have the memory of a goldfish. Chris Judd won the MVP in 2011 and lost a poll to a guy who was probably borderline top 50. One of the craziest things I have seen on this site.

Anyway back on topic, I am not surprised that Bartel is winning this poll even though I obviously don't agree with it. I would have thought Watson would have got more love. In the best few players in the comp on form before he got hurt. Would expect him to kick on in 2012.

Likewise you may be underrating Bartel.
