Watson went off with an ankle injury yesterday 10 mins into the 2nd quarter after an Elite level game that further stamped his claim as the next Essendon captain & 2009 All Australian. I know he came back on in the second half but being very drunk I can't recall how long he was on for or what sort of impact he had then.

Does anyone know how bad the injury is ?
Will be miss the Collingwood game?
How long is he likely to be out?

Assuming he misses the game who is likely to fill his roll?
I see Welsh, Mcveigh & Prizza sharing his roll & I am confident that we will be able to cover his spot although it will bring the two sides alot closer together as he is such a massive player for us.

What are your thoughts ?

Carlton kicked 3 goals while he was off, we kicked a goal as soon as he came back on, lol.

He picked up 4 or 5 possies in the second for the 10 minutes he was on.

As for how long he will miss, no one will have any idea until the club give us further details on the injury. Could play next week or could miss 6+ weeks.

Jobe is a key, if not the key to our midfield. His play around the stoppages last night was crucial to our dominance. He evaded tackles time and time again, and his disposal on the whole was top notch. Hopefully its not too serious and he can line up against Collingwood, if he doesn't we'll definately miss his work rate and his ability to win the ball.

Scans today revealed that key on-baller, Jobe Watson, has suffered strained ligaments and muscle damage to the ankle area and is expected to miss the next two weeks of football.

Football operations manager, Paul Hamilton, said the 24-year-old - who dominated the first quarter of Friday night's big win against Carlton - rolled his ankle in the second quarter and did not play in the second half.

"The scans have provided some good news in that Jobe hasn't suffered a major injury," Hamilton said.

"Jobe was feeling pretty sore after the game but our medical staff have all the advice they need and are confident he will not miss too much footy.

"He will rest his ankle this week and we will see how quickly he recovers and confirm a more definite return date for him then.

"Jobe is an extremely important part of our young side so it is disappointing to lose him for important clashes with Collingwood and Sydney but we will give him the time he needs to fully recover."

haha, whats with the footy media choosing photos like these? Surely there are better looking ones.

Who else saw the pic of Michael Gardiner on The Age yesterday? I just couldn't stop laughing.

Lets hope it is only 1 week, and we do a straight swap for McVeigh. Best news and he plays this week, though that would seem unlikely.
