afc9798 said:Thanks for the over reaction. Down water Hick? Are you suffering from small state syndrome?Too many people in too smaller area? How big of St Kilda to offer "something" back. You were the one that brought Begley into the story, it was completely irrelevant and has no bearing whatsoever to the Watts scenario. I don't think he'll go to the Saints anyway, as they will most likely be trumped by the Bulldogs who are desperate for a key forward.

Crowked said:No, he can put a price on his head to scare off interest but if a club has the money and selects him, he's going or he's sitting it out. He cant just nominate the club and no one else can pick him, it doesnt work like that.

Common decency was shown by your club with Begley, I don't disagree, but the Watts situation is entirely different and will have no bearing. You're also correct about him being able to refuse offers, but how much money do the Saints have in their cap currently? Not much I'd say, given that they battled hard to retain the players they have. If the Saints put up a reasonable trade, then I'm sure he'll go there, but I still think he's more likely to end up elsewhere. I'm just disappointed that Mummy's boy will be rewarded for screwing the club that drafted him and prepared him. That's life I guess and I don't expect to ever see you here complaining when a high draft pick screws you over to return home after 2 years of preparation.Saintsfan said:Sorry mate I actually live in Perth but yes managed to find just enough room to stretch out my arms today, and yeah I did bring Begley into the story saying fairly much the club we support actually showed something called common decency to allow Begley to return to his home state, pity neither of the clubs over there had enough to reciprocate.
And I also pointed out that in this case Saint Kilda would probably be accomodating again and offer a trade to get Watts, it's no surprise he's returning to Vic, and theres no real surprise at to where he wants to play.

And yeah down water hick is quite apt as well

No and I won't make much of a fuss about it. Just disappointing for clubs and their supporters when a club uses their draft picks and development time, and then loses the player for no fault of their own. It's sort of OK when you get some value, e.g. you and Nick Davis. But Adelaide looks to get very little here, just more potential players if anything.MarkT said:Like what? The draft? A club drafts a bloke from another state and presumably tries its best to re settle him but it can't always work........
Ausgard said:I would have though North who have Motlop to trade and Adelaide would be a reasonably perfect match
Perhaps draft picks might be needed or something to even it up but at least you don't get in the situation where someone is trying to rip you off because they know the player is going to leave.
OMG that could mean ANOTHER North forward goes to Adelaide
Carey, M Stevens, Welsh, Hewitt ... and now possibly Motlop
Bizarre as all hell
