Just on the pronunciation (because not enough people have stuck their oar in yet)....It's really about which syllable is stressed.

If you stress the first syllable, as Wayne does in the video, it'll come out MILL-uh-ruh. He clearly doesn't stress the second syllable, so muh-LAIR-uh is definitely wrong. Suggesting that the middle syllable has an 'air' sound just leads people to emphasising the wrong syllable.

Mil-air-a is easier for our English trained tongues but Millera is a word made by the indigenous tongue so it's pronounced Miller-uh, it's awkward for us because it's pronunciation is so close to Miller-er and er-er is rare in English.

And if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle. The order changes substantially if you start giving 2 games to teams.

They have the best small forward combo in the league, even better than ours with Ballantyne and Walters.

While their talls lack depth, they don't need to score big to win games.

They still have the WA advantage.

They'll win at least 14 games.

Agree with all that but I still take Rotayjay's point that they are a little fragile up front

Last year they wanted to kick two more goals a game. Not sure they did that?

They're saying they want to do that again this year. With Pav a year older, can they? Griffen looked good up forward the other night.

They weren't able to lure a key forward so a bit like Richmond they are trying to manufacture more potency

They are still dangerous but I think their time is running out. If not this year then soon

All I can say is these are the same problems that people identify every year, yet every year they seem to be in the prelims.
Of course their window is closing with Pav and Sandi coming to the end, but you never know. If Hawks had beaten WC week one of the finals then you probably find Freo in another grand final.

Never like to put too higher expectation on a kid but geez how could you not be excited by this lad.

His agility makes weaving in and around traffic look effortless and some of the vision we saw of him cutting his way through the lines first class.

The most important thing we hear is his fitness and workload is up to scratch so there should be no reason he does not play early.
This. Don't place the world of expectation on the kid. It is only Mickey Mouse season.
Wayne was impressive in his debut but let the kid develop at his own rate.
There is no doubt we have a good one here.

Agree they are still a real danger. Ross might be their secret weapon - he must be getting close to premiership or bust time

Why they didn't take the Snake in that draft is baffling stuff!
I too was a little surprised that Freo passed on Lever because it suited a need for them. Before we criticise them too much Lachie Weller their pick is just beginning to find his feet. He looks a player of quality.
Lever was the perfect pick for us and exactly the type of player we needed in that draft.

Bicks still banging on that Crows aren't that good that they can carry Milera

Reckons he's not best 22 and should come in through the 2s

Hahah omg shut up Bicks

Judging by the way in which people here are recounting it, it sounds like Bickley seems to enjoy slagging Milera off?

I think he just lives in some parallel universe where the crows are nigh on impossible to break into the side with stalwarts the likes of Mackay having all the outside spots sewn up. It's bizarre to listen to. For years we've been so shit on the outside and no poise or class to deliver to our forwards then we finally get a decent draft pick and a local gun who ticks all the boxes falls to us and Bicks doesn't want to play him.

In fact as I type he's waxing lyrical about Mackay. He's just part of the machinery and can't think beyond what he heard from Campo and Noble for years at team meetings

oh dear- so conservative

let the kid play, he will only get better the more he is exposed

losing respect for bicks' footy IQ

Are you surprised by that? He's also calling for Mackay to get a gig ahead of Atkins based on two quarters of no pressure football where he looked decent.

And also apparently the difference for B Smith this year is that he will get some support on the outside from ....yep, none other that the great D MacKay.

Not sure what's been going on in previous years lol

Honestly Bicks - you're becoming embarassing

Bicks was saying the crows are in a position (competing to make the top 8) that they should pick their best 22 each week. If Milera is in the best 22 then play him.

Specifically he noted that round 1 (and the first 8 in general) was a tough round an they need to focus on winning not necessarily player development.

To be honest I agree, if they do want to develop players then do this when they have the luxury, or need, to.

If Milera plays as well in the next 2 games as he did in game 1, he's in the best 22 so play him. But don't gift games to anyone in the early rounds.

Agreed. Step one has been achieved. He has ample talent at this level: this will not go away. Step2 requires that he be allowed to develop and demonstrate physical and mental hardness and longevity. Hopefully, Eddie's nursery will help him with avoiding any pitfalls due to a large head. Overall, I'm happy to go along with the club's plan for his development. The last thing we need is development akin to Menzel's at Carlton, which we are already trying to address.

OK, fine but didn't Atkins play in the same "no pressure" football match that D. Mackay did?, and didn't Atkins too only play 2 quarters where he looked decent?

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story eh.....
