I wouldn't speak too soon (if you're referring to dixon). He will be a gun

He is 5 months younger than Tex and hasn't kicked 100 goals yet. 160 behind Tex who did an ACL for a year.

Do I see improvement in him. A bit.

But Port paid huge overs for him. Along with Ryder. Along with Polec.

Anyway I digress. Wayne Milera is a star. Hugely impressed.

Still 26/1 for Rising Star. Should be 12-13/1 IMO

Charlie has never really performed well as a SANFL footballer. He is an AFL footballer. He has always performed better at AFL level than he does at SANFL as he is great at using and exposing space which is something you don't get much of in the SANFL.

If we are going to judge Cameron based on his SANFL performance, he will waste away in the SANFL for the remainder of the year as he will never dominate that level. Put him in the AFL side and the kid rises to the occasion and uses that pace to kill teams especially on the rebound and defensively.

Agree. All good points.

Can't help but smile when you listen to the kid speak. Looks like he is genuinely over the moon to be playing AFL football.

Shaun Burgoyne type? Gun midfielder but put him where you need him.
i think he will be similar. even in his first game vs north he had a great passage of play where he just shrugged off a tackler and did a sick kick forward. hes no mackay in the pin department. should play everywhere from hb to wing to centre bounces to hf. hopefully he can get to stephen hill levels which is just awesome. his 'inside' wont really be inside tho. he wont be a thompson at the bottom just shooting a handbll out. but he can go to centre bounces and be a bit of a robbie gray or wingard

Milera has beautiful balance in the way he moves and an ankle breaking cross over that you generally only see in basketball.

Add to that he's elite disposal and decision making and I think he will be a special type of player.

Knight, Cameron and Menzel are all ready to go but I don't see how we can squeeze them in at this point. Milera and/or McGovern would be the most likely outs but both are holding their own. Nice position for us to be in given in the past we only seemed to bat to about 18.

Cameron has shown real class last year but really does not do enough in games to be listed as a regular team member especially now lots of options.
Knight is a different situation as he really excelled end of year and after hiccup with injury has shown in SANFL ready to be a key player again but whether this week or next is the question,
Re Milera already stated how excited I am for us to get this future star after picking up Lever the year before ,

Watched the replay again last night. Hard to believe he was playing only his second game.

I dont think there really is many players like him comparable. Long raking bullet passes, great hands in the air, speed, evasive like eddy. Runs smoothly like McLeod. A much better Wells probably best comparison.
Under valuing Wells a bit by saying "a much better"?

Wells is a genuine gun.

He has been injured which demeans his record a bit, but calling Milera a better Wells doesn't seem right to me.

I think the comparison thing can get a bit over done.

Milera will be unique. I can see him becoming a name our opposition supporters mutter under their breath as in "not Milera again who is on him" or "why would we just leave Milera on his own like that" and the infamous "it's Milera, he won't miss" [emoji3]

Add in Brad Crouch, Jake Lever, Rory Laird, Troy Menzel ... The talent list is getting impressive.

I always find the way people get their knickers in a knot over RS noms quite amusing. It makes us feel warm and fuzzy when one of ours gets it but seriously... is there a less important individual award in footy than a Rising Star nomination?

Tbh.. the **** hasn't really lived up to the hype. We dodged a bullet and nailed the right pick. Our recruiters deserved their money that day.
While I agree with the recruiters in their decision, it is miles too early to say we dodged a bullet. Plenty of scope for him to develop into a great player. Early days.
