We are ruining Houli

McVeigh shouldn't have come into the team. No form (or should i say shit form) and coming off an injury yet he comes back in. Didn't they learn a lesson last year?

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of players getting games at our club, based solely on reputations.

Agree.

Could add 2 or 3 names to that list.

Did anyone see colyer hit a target today?

Nope.. I would much prefer Houli with his occasional loopy handballs and precise kicking to a young kid who can run (and has HUGE upside) but can't kick to save himself...

Too many passengers.. Houli needs to be playing if we are serious about taking this club back to the top..

Missed Davey's tackling pressure.. anyone know when he will be back?

Is there any hope out there?

Colyer is an interesting case.

He looks very comfortable at the level but cant kick to save his life.

How we address this isue - is a mystery !

And you cant tell him to handball because he is a run and carry type of player.

I still think he has done enough to retain his place.

70%+ of collingwoods score came directly from turnovers..

that suggests that we can't have kids like colyer in until his efficiency is lifted.

This is not give up on him or he is a spud like comments. Just that we can't continue to have so many guys with poor disposal in the side..

yes but I would like to play houli forward BTG.. so not handballing on the hbf.. but rather carrying the ball on the wing and then using his kick to spot up gumby/hurley/ryder..

Houli has a very good kick on him.. or do you dispute that?

I think all our guys look bad handballing cause of the gameplan.. and they are told to hand ball no matter what.. so very bad all round..

But I don't think Houli could have turned it over more than Colyer.. I literally did not see the kid hit a single target today..

Colyer should be dropped to work on his kicking. I saw him somehow manage to pinpoint a Collingwood player between 2 essendon players.

Good prospect, but should not be playing AFL till he can hit a target.

Houli should come in next week and I will be very disappointed if he misses out- particualrly if some of our bigger names in winderlich, welsh, mcveigh etc. stay in

Agree pretty much with that.

Watched bachar as a junior and at TAC. His natural game is to run and kick the ball....very simple. While he is playing off the HBF, he has many runners flying past for a handball so I reckon he believes that what he has to do. The kid could run and carry the pill as well as most in the league but it seems as though he is under instruction not to. Seems like your coaching staff are trying to forcefeed defensive skills down his throat. The VFL aint going to help him either. Invest some real time into him.

I watch Essendon games on TV and it looks as though he doesn't back himself and thats a shame for bloke who always backed himself. Knights could do worse than listen to we BF experts and let the kid play his natural game. :p

Here's a dare.... play him as a forward for a while before you make him part of the permanent midfield brigade. He will kick his quota of two most weeks. Has very good goal sense and will create goals for others.

Stop it.. two pies making sense in one day is doing my head in!!

But spot on.. houli is another victim of knighters "my way or the highway" approach. Supposedly it was his lack of defensive pressure that costs him a place in the side.. odd considering another 10-12 blokes suffer the same problem.

Should be playing attacking forward football and being instructed to run and carry.. has much better disposal than Dempsey. This kid WILL leave and become a gun at another club. Yet another "I told you so" moment to be hard unfortunately.

Lets just hope knights is sacked before that can happen. This bloke should be spotting up gumby and hurley all day.. no fluffing around handballing on the HBF.. urghhhh

i think that the club will carry Colyer for a few more weeks.

Important to get Howlett into the side - works hard both ways and has good skills.

Why he was ever dropped is a mystery.

I think you will find that Davey will come in and play the role that Colyer is currently playing.

Whilst I also agree, we need to get Howlett in the side. Winderlich's form will open up a spot in the midfield. Give it too Howlett who was good from all reports for Bendigo on Saturday.

Yeah sorry Rines. My IQ increases once I put my false teeth in. :p
I watch Essendon on the box quite a bit and am sick to death of blokes like NLM tagging the boundary Ump and demanding the ball in no man's land from the workers. It's almost like the others give Houli the ball only if he promises to give it back. The result is sometimes another useless handball stat when he can be so much more damaging.

Agree with most of that. I'd like to see him up forward.

Although, Bachar's handball is probably the worst in our team. Maybe on a par with Dempsey.

Yep, not disputing his handball is suspect..

But as you correctly mention it is that much worse than dempsey or a few others for that matter.

So we have a guy who can find the pill, run all day, is quick and has a beautiful kick that spots up targets and he can't get a run..

How does that make sense?

If his handball is suspect then play him differently or work on it or look at why. Its easier to handball than to kick so why can't he do it? He had an alright handball at junior level so what happened?

the point comes back to whether his disposal is far inferior to some other flogs who keep getting games.. I cringe more when dempsey gets the ball than houli. I liked the look of dempsey up forward though.. what do you think of that move.. looked like he could sniff a goal or two every game..

Give the kid 3 or 4 weeks playing the roles Colyer and Melksham are playing. He's doesn't have the hardness to play down back and we can maybe use his running and ability to get the pill.

Don't understand how Colyer can get an extended run in the seniors as he's either dropping the ball cold or kicking it directly to the opposition.

Knights has said our disposal going forward is a big problem. Houli can pull the trigger with his kicking and should be instructed to kick more and to hit up leading forwards.

Mid/Wing/HF for 3-4 weeks to show us what he's got and if he's worth persisting with over others.

Dont have a problem with Dempsey up forward.

It means that a Hardingham type needs to play Dempsey's role in defence.

That is a player who is courageous in the air, good in heavy traffic and can run the lines.
