The Magpies - The final curtain.
And now, the years end is hear;
And the Maggies face the final curtain.
Our supporters, we'll say it clear,
we'll state our case, of which we're certain.
We've played a season to our best.
We’ve played each and evry game the hard way;
And more, much more than this,
we did it our way.
Regrets, we've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
We did what we had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
We played tough in every game;
taking hard tackles along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
We did it our way.
Yes, there were times, we're sure we knew
When we bit off more than we could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
we ate it up and spat it out.
We faced it all and we stood tall;
And did it our way.
In loving Collingwood, we've laughed and cried
We’ve had our fill; earlier in the year of cruising.
And now, as tears subside,
we find it hard to accept loosing.
To think we reached the finals;
And may we say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not just one of us,
like the magpies of old, we did in the team way.
For what is a Collingwood man, what has he got?
If not his team mates, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
and not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows we took the blows -
Because we, as a team, did it our way!
