What we do is play shyte for at least a half a game and lull the opposition into a false sense of security and then pump them, if they don't put us away.

Seriously though, the coaches appear to carefully manage the time on the field of some of our key runners, keeping them fresh for the 2nd half. I think rarely in the 1st quarter did we have our absolute best 18 on the field at once. Changed in the 2nd quarter to get some ascendency and then good rotations through the 3rd and 4th allowed us to run over the top of Richmond like we did the Kangas.

that is so true, i think malthouse is trying to bring back the 3rd quarter specialst name. just like when were on the top ;). good effort last night go the woods

If we do have a game plan, it was non existant in the first half - disgraceful. Our midfielders were prepard to run in the second half and that was the difference, that and our ability, well Scott Burns to get some centre clearances and actually hit a leading forward on the chest.

We are still far too slow to react to the quick kick out. That second posession from the initial quick kick in is killing us. Our forwards are either too dumb to get into position and present or how full back is choosing the wrong option and just kicking to the first bloke he sees in the clear.

the main thing that hurt us in the first half was the skill errors. rhyce shaw 2 turn overs resulted in goals licca turn over result goal but that is factored into our game plan.most coaches think if we can limit hall or brown or rocca's goals we have a chance of winning the game but malthouse thinks if we can limit licca's turn overs that result in goals to 2 or less we are a chance of winning the game.

Things must be put in perspective though.
Buckley, Didak, Johnson and Clement out.
They are all keys to our gneral game plan.
Mick would have had a plan last night, which was ruined when Clement was injured.
With minimal time to reorganise, it probably took him 'til half time to get all the players to get it right.

What I have no time for is when for example Travis Cloke gets the ball, he usually just pumps the ball in as soon as he gets it, but he stops.. looks for about 10 seconds.. then does what he sahould have done in the first place and pump it long to Rocca one out.

That's all that was there in the first place

Spot on. Some of them just don't seem to be able to quickly make the decision to either play on or wait, instead they end up in some in between land.Frustrating.

Mehurst understands the concept of getting it into Rocca quickly, so he can have a one on one contest with his opponent. On a few occasions when Medders knows he is too far out, immediately swings around and pumps it long.

Travis needs to the same, but not try and kick the cover off the footy. A gentle follow through, and it will go 50m.
