Title says it all.

Had we scored that point in the last second, we wouldve had 3rd by .03 of a percent.

For the umpteenth time, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

We get an extra day off, and we play the Saints.

To win a flag, you have to be the best, and to be the best, you have to beat the rest.

it dosent relly matter we would of had to vs the saints anyways if we wanted to win a flag i dont think where good enough this year after tonights game looking foward to next year.

Pathetic effort. A perfect shot at a grand final up for grabs and we just blew it.

I don't care what anyone says, finishing 4th is a failure after the position we had set ourselves up in. Not only do we face a harder game to go straight to a prelim final, but if we lose we'll no doubt be facing Adelaide. Give me Carlton/Brisbane any day over them.

Terrible, terrible performance. Minimal genuine positives to take from that game. Our previous 3 months of form counts for nothing if we can't back it up now. We had better bounce back.

im with the others, we finished top 4
thats better than 12 other teams and still sets us up for a shot

i dont know if you all watched the saints today but they werent overly impressive
reiwoldt is injured, dont care what they say
hayes is injured

its on folks, dont you worry about that

Two 12 point turnarounds in the space of 2 minutes from the umps didn't help

St Kilda are better than Geelong. Much better.

It's not only the initial match up, but the potential match up IF we lost. Adelaide are a superb side who'll be a force in finals. They have finals experienced, they are fit, they have hard bodies and are very well drilled. On the other hand, you have a team like Carlton.....I mean, please, it isn't even a choice.

We've secured the double chance, but we've made it harder to get to the Grand Final from here.

Whats the difference who we play? We had one bad game and I'd rather get it out of the way in round 22 than in the finals.

To win the premiership you have to beat both Geelong and St. Kilda, plus one of W.B / Adelaide depending on week 1 results.

In terms of Geelong or St. Kilda, we get the extra day off for the Saints, who haven't been red hot lately, Riewoldt isnt 100%, neither is Hayes, they have more "suspect" players than Geelong, and remember we still have to welcome back next week Pendlebury and L. Brown, who will provide one extra big man in defence.

Calm down everyone, we finished top 4, we have the double chance, a full list, and love the big occasion at the G, where the Saints have played 1 game all year, against Melbourne, and weren't too flash hot themselves.

amen.

Being 3rd on the ladder was not going to change if we won the grand final. We will have to beat quality teams either way.

Be more concerned about going into the finals with a loss.

If the Saints win their first final they'll be hard to stop, so I think it's better to get the Saints in the first week of finals while they still have some self doubt.

...and we'll go in as clear underdogs which is much more to our liking.

I don't care that we lost but i think we found out about a few players tonight and thing we need to change if we want to go further this year. Johnson plays well but for gods sake the stupid things he does shows me we wont win the flag with him in our side. The mistakes we made tonight worry me and we need to make changes if we want to be a real player this year. Its not the en of of the world but i worry with some players who go alright but i dont think will take us too the next step.

What was that last kick by Wellingham? He looked to have loads of space and just fluffed it. Although I was too busy dropping my head to see the aftermath or replay, was it smothered?

I prefer the Malthouse attitude. We have to believe we can beat anyone to have any chance.

My only concern is that we came out really flat after playing the Bulldogs last time. They run you into the ground.

I'm still confident that we can make and even win the flag, however some of the logic people are applying here is ridiculous. The belief that we can beat anyone is great, and sure we may not have minded playing either the Cats or Saints if it was up to someone else - but it depended on us winning. Had we won, it'd have been sewn up. We lost. What's more, we lost to a team in finals contention. Obviously we don't believe we can beat the Dogs at this point. Bad result.

:D Thinks Back to Round 22, 2002

Lost to the Bulldogs, we finished 4th, and the next Week knocked off the team that Finished 1st. Me thinks Deja Vu :p

But seriously, we've gotta face the Saints somewhere along the Line anyway! I think we'll come out a different side next week. Finals Pressure, Big Crowd @ The MCG.... The Pies will Hit back! :thumbsu:

That would have meant that Collingwood will be playing Geelong nest Sat'day afternoon with less than a six day break, but now Collingwood have nearly a full seven day break. I was sure the Geelong v. third Qualifying Final would be played on the Saturday night. Recovery is so important, and I would not be happy at this stage about playing on Sat'day afternoon, but next week will tell whether it was bad to lose or not, and don't be surprised if both Collingwood and Western Bulldogs win next week.

You've got to be joking aren't you? There is no stand out team this year and any team in the top-4 can win the premiership and Adelaide are 5th and they're good enough as well. Collingwood can definitely beat the Western Bulldogs on the M.C.G instead of playing on their home ground twice this season. You sound like a Carlton and Essendon supporter that is happy just to make the finals, but I'm glad the club feels much differently about it as they should.

Ok here is my first post. Yes its disappointing we lost, but: We get an extra break and play an out of form Saints on our home ground. Plus I think we will be stealed from this loss and focused for a tough game. I think we are better to go into the match as under-dogs because that's what we are - 4th best atm. And who cares about Adelaide. To win the flag we cant be loosing in the first week anyway, so forget about them.
