They only admitted one error? What about Mortons great mark in front that was disallowed?

It's a pity dumb decisions by umpires can play such a significant part in our game still. That ump should NEVER umpire at this level again, he obviously doesn't know the rules to penalise Mcguane in the first place.:thumbsd:

Here's the thing. I'm no lawyer and i don't think we are going to make the eight, BUT, this is an admission of error. It did affect the outcome. From a hypothetical POV, if we were only two points out of the eight, and we had percentage better than the team above us, could we legally contest the result?

how can you contest that in court?

if a point is paid, the ball is kicked out from the backline rather than taken back to the center square for a bounce, so nothing that happened after that decision would have been the same. for all we know the kick out could have been rebounded for a goal, the extra point giving the saints the game.

it's all "ifs" - if your aunty had balls she would be your uncle!

dear god no

for one thing there was 9 minutes left to go. The point could have stood and then we could have kicked it straight to a st. kilda player from the kick in (which isn't all that unlikely), they goal and win by a point in the end.

As much as the Artie Fufkins in here are sticking up for the umps,I've got a feeling it will not be the last time the umps hand out dubious penalties to Richmond.

Blatant decisions based on bias and not reality.

The McGuane one was pure blatant bias.

He knew the rules.

He had 6 months of drilling of the rules.

Then the same old,"we were wrong" and a little slap on the wrist the following day.

Sorry but that doesn't cut it.

She'd look pretty bloody crook then!! Like i said, I would have no idea if you could contest it, or not. I just know with an ever increasing letigious society, you may not always be able to rule all things out.

Yep, and that could have been a real occurance as well. Point taken. (no pun intended).

And there i was checking the bloody cupboards!! Thanks for the heads up sir Robert!!

Come on guys, we all already know the umpires kill us. This is no different.

These kind of decisions are why I feel a video ref would become important.

sydney got away with one in the final 6 or so mins in their match.. I'm still pissed... they should have lukeys upcoming suspension forgotton as payment. Or maybe maybe at the tribunal could just say "lukes dicision to hammer ray was wrong, and a mistake" and all will be forgiven...
