We will go big or small in the draft?

Small. We always do.

The funny part about you is every time you are challenged about your duel teams, you call yourself a dogs supporter for a long time but the evidence hear shows you know little about the club.

Also the Bulldogs beat you other mob and we didn't hear from you, we lose badly and now its 'we' this 'we' that.

We'll take the best available player - big or small - and that guy will slot into the team at the expense of one of our fringe players by about the 10th to 14th game of the season - see Murphy, Higgins, Cooney (exception I know), Griffin, Everitt, etc

Whilst we may not be tall, you can't knock any of the guys drafted (Power and Walsh excused) under the best available process.

Settle down Ernie. Has all your cackling on the radio tired you out today?

I have barracked for the dogs my whole life. (30 years) I am a player sponsor. Is that enough of a supporter for you???? Bomberdog is two people. My brother barracks for the Dons.

I'd back my knowledge of the club against yours any day of the week.

I know its very difficult to create 2 logins for some people. A bit like Rocket Science.
I would have though the last thing a true bulldog supporter would want is to be associated with another club.
You have already demonstrated you have little knowledge in our recruiting by saying we only recruit smalls.

BTW I'm really not Ernie but at least he is true red white and blue.

What a shock. I really thought it was you Ernie typing away down at Inverloch on your laptop. I must be mistaken with our recent recruiting. I must of missed all of those fully developed young players coming through.

Rocket science isn't my specialty. Perhaps it is yours.

I'm talking about physically under developed players. I'm not saying that this is an error. Personally I think it may be sensible. Sometimes a young player may dominate as a result of their bulk over the rest. A skinnier less developed player who does well may have more football ability that allows them to overcome their physical limitations. The bulk and weight can be trained into them. Ability is harder to get.

Ernie I am just saying that this seems to be our approach. Its not all the time but it is common. We are not afraid to take on a project player who is of a smaller size.

Is that such an incorrect summation of our recent recruiting?

We'll go best available in the first 2 rounds, but after that, should we be looking for a ruck and/or makring forward?

Westoff, or whatever his name is, for Port was taken pick 71 last year. Good pickup - string bean but can take a grab.

FWIW, we've been going best available for a few years, and a team like the Hawks drafted for needs, put together a good spine, and now look at them? In theory it makes sense to get the best player available, but is it REALLY the way to go?

Big or small I don't really care. How about though, not skinny! Our side just has no physical presence.

Lets not get carried away.

We've recruited a large number of Talls in recent years - unfortunately many haven't come on for various reasons - eg. Walsh, Tiller.

Talls aren't easy to draft - many of the good ones going around were either top picks which we had no chance at (eg. Reiwoldt, Franklin) or were deep in the draft and were missed by most teams (eg. Fevola).

I'm one for trading for a tall this year and would be willing to give up our 1st rounder for the right player. As for who that is and what they're worth, I'll leave that to those who get paid the big bucks to make those decisions.

We could have got Franklin instead of Griffen so we did have a chance at him.

I think we need more Hahn type of players. Even though Higgins will be a star in the midfield we couldve done with a big bodied player like Hurn who went just after him.

You can't just give up pick 8-10 for a decent KPP, you'd need to give more. Say that Fev and Pav are on the table this year (most likely neither will be...) then you're definitely looking at giving up Griff or at least 2 first rounders, and probably both in the top 10.

How hard is it to get another username and logout/login every one in a while?

As for "big or small" - we've recruited, what, at least a dozen 190cm+ players over the last few years? Other than two notable misses (Franklin and McIntosh) out of about 40 total draft picks, quality talls have just not been available at our selections in the last 8 seasons.

Do you NOT want blokes like Gilbee, Murphy, Griffen, Cooney, Morris, McMahon, Higgins and Cross recruited? Guess what, drafting's not an exact science and in order to get the above blokes, there has to be a tendency towards the mid-sized, athletically sound midfielder in recruiting - that 'classical' onballer/flanker/pocket does account for 70% of most senior AFL starting 22s, afterall.

Agree. Too many skinny types coming through. A few harder, tougher types are probably where we're missing. It's no good have a good KPP if you can't win the ball.

Ray over McLean?

Hindsight is good, but having a body that will fill out should be a pre-req for this year's first round pick.

Higgins will fill out though - I think he'll be a reasonable size, not huge, but big enough to hack the heat in the kitchen
