Regarding the article in Sundays Sun written by John Ralph about enticing a tall forward. It seems as though we are not looking at a forward thats on the fringe at another club. The article seems to elude to the fact that we will be in the hunt for a high profile ready made key forward.

Might I suggest one name and I do want opinions on this and I am not sure if he has been mentioned on other threads but I think we should at the very least inquire of Michael Gardner form West Coast as a permanent forward. I think Cox has taken the ruck duties, Gardner has his issues reg private life in WA, we have the rucks covered so why not try to get him over as a full time key forward were he would not need to ruck to make a contribution to the team or even justify his position.

I think we are going after another ready made high profile forward rather than a fringe player. Opinions please.

Wouldn't give three beans for him.

Good player but the injury history is enough to rule him out. We'd pay way above the rate and probably spend half the year with him in the doctor's rooms.
(In the highly unlikely event he'd move east)

His injuries may be attributable to his rucking duties. Gardner can take a contestant mark aroung 30m from goal if he can come relative cheap I would at least inqiure.

its interesting, but I think we really need a true forward. not an athletic type, or a ruckman cum forward, but a dyed in the wool, take a strong grab and reliable kick for goal type of forward.

besides it would be a draft picks only deal with west coast, when what we really want is to offload a few onballers who are surplus to our needs.

I wouldn't want us to go after a KPP unless it was some one young. We are a young team and our midfield is on the rise so we don't want some one over the hill, who by the time we are having success is useless.
The best thing for our team would be to try our luck in the draft, or go for a young tall with plenty of improvement in him, such as:
- Mcdougle
- Watts
- Kositske
Having said this these players are all playing at clubs that are succesfull at the moment so they might not be keen to leave. On the other hand they might not be getting a go at their clubs, eg. - Kosi would find it pretty hard to secure a KP spot in the St Kilda forward line over Gherig and Reiwoldt, but at the dogs he would probably go straight to CHF.
