Based on last nights loss which absoloutly pisses me off cause ess are so damn crap and based on the teams we have to beat for the rest of the year we wont make the 8.

Rich - Win but wont be suprised if we lose
St.K - We will get pumped cause we neva beat them
Syd - " " "
WB - Top four side and they wont lose to us again
Ade - Chance but doubt it
P.A - Its the games we should win that we wont
NM - We wont even though we should (their team looks so shit on paper i honsetly dont know how they win games likewise with collingwood all they do is bomb the ball out of the centre no skills)
Bris - We wont win this unless JB and Black is out
Haw - Top 2 side dont think so

I hate to be so negative but its all the truth. Out of all this we hav maybe 3-4 chances to win against Rich St.K, P.A, and maybe NM.

Fingers crossed

think you are being quite generous about your wins.... i reckon maybe port is the only team i can see you beating.... tiges will take care of you again just like rd 1.

We definitely won't make the 8, chances of wins against Tigers,Port & Saints.

Quite possible Tigers & Bombers will finish above us.

Don't be too sure champ.
We were well underdone in round 1, and you only ran away with the game in the second half. Either way, it should be a good game.

I agree we wont make the 8, but Jesus, you reckon we wont win another game. I think we should be looking at another 3 or 4 for the year.

Oh Chicken Licken....

We were never certainties to make finals, and we are still not certainties not to make finals.

We were always going to win some games that most would not have expected us to win and we were always going to lose games that we would have expected to win.

We came into this game having won 6 out of our last 9 games, and as Ratts predicted early in the week, our biggest enemy coming into the Essendon game was always going to be complacency.

We were getting pretty good at hunting, but we needed a crash course on being hunted, and Essendon delivered.

Most of the "Finals in '08" hopefuls after the Port game said that we would most likely win 3 out of our next 4 and be in the hunt. So far we are 1 and 1 of those 4, if we beat Richmond and St Kilda we are right back on track with that prediction.

Based on playing personnel and current form, Essendon would have been among the easiest of these 4 games to have won and in that regard it was a disappointing loss.

Let's hope that our young playing group at least make the most of the opportunity to learn from all that went wrong this week: the pitfalls of getting ahead of onesself, the importance of being 100% switched on for 100% of the game etc etc and in doing so get us back on track to get ove Richmond and the Aints (for the first time in WAY too many years) :thumbsu:

we are not ready to make the 8.

yesterday highlighted the many gaps we have in the team, that get overlooked when you are winning.

Can we get of making the 8 shit we were never going to make finals this year. We got beaten not just beaten but absolutely smashed yesterday, we have come a long way but we have a long way to go. Like I keep saying we have to take 2 steps back before we can go forward again and this loss couldn't have come t a better time. I could tell yesterday and reading some comments on our board and on other boards during last week that some Blues fans got too carried away. We still have a lot of dead wood on our lest, and we have lots of kids. But hey lets stop worrying about finals etc and enjoy the rest of the season and look forward to the years to come.

We won't make the 8 this year, we still have alot of really rubbishy second-rate good-VFL level players that people get excited about when we win.

It's only been the influence of Judd that has got us wins this year, and until the rubbishy players lift - which many of them won't - will we really be able to make statements against sh!t like Essenscum who we should have beaten and now we are terrified as we will get beaten by another ordinary team in Richmondo.

I want as many wins as we can get this year, but honestly I'd be happy for Carlton to finish in 9th or 10th spot at seasons end. That would put us in a reasonable position draft pick wise and would still reflect improvement from the group. Carlton should play like they have nothing to lose, because really they don't. Playing finals this year would be awesome..but as many others have said we are not ready..by a fair margin.

agree with you kenneth, but still want to give you this parting message.

stop being so negative.

there are things to like about this carlton team.
1. they're playing together, for one another and although they got beat, they learnt to never get ahead of yourself and that's going to be a good lesson.

2. we are the youngest list in the comp. fact. development of these kids is going to be immeasurable for us.

3. the run home is tough, we all know that. but, if we snatch a few, play with heart, see some development and improvement, that is what we want. results will come through good processes, good coaching and hard work and a level minded mindset.

We probably won't make the 8. But we are a chance after round 13, and that is a huge step up on previous years.

It'll be nice to watch the Carlton football club play in July, and possibly even August, with something more at stake than just a priority draft pick. Anything more would be a bonus (finals, Fev winning the Coleman, Judd brownlow, a win over Hawthorn in round 22, whatever).

unfortunately for your mob we wont take the game lightly like we did in round 1. we are a better side then richmond and we will prove that come gameday. carlton have improved immensly since round 1 and i dont see richmond as a threat. carlton will win this one. we may not make the final 8 this year but next year we will.

Farrrr out

We go from worst team in the compeition for 6 years and someone cracks the sads when we dont make the 8???

Where's our perspective?

Where's our recognition of having the worst list by far in the competition in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and only now starting to put it together?

Where's the recognition of finally having some stability off-field?

IM RAPTED-ED!

What's with the cocky Tigers all of a sudden?

You have beaten us, Freo, Dons, Melbourne and Port. Wow......world beaters.

You nearly got run down by the second worst 4th Q team in the comp.............you guys would want to be up by about 4 goals at 3/4 time, because we are finishing fast these days.........and nearly rolled the Dons with Judd legless, Carrazzo's head spinning and Bentick lame.

Won't happen again.

Tiges might win, but I wouldn't be as confident as to carry on with all the posturing that has been going on this week..........will come back to bite you.:thumbsu:

Anything could happen this Saturday, and for the rest of the season. Chances are we'll probably end up with 8 - 10 wins for the year

At the start of the year, if someone said that, I'd say they were joking, 6 -8 wins would;ve been a good year. People seem to forget how poor we've been over the last 5 or so years.

This year:

- our general field kicking has improved out of site (that's not to say there's no room for more improvement, because there certainly is)

- we finally seem to be playing to a structure that everyone can see

- our backline is beginning to look solid, no doubt helped by a stronger midfield, but the backline boys are now teaming up well and are showing some run. Are young and will only get better

- Rattan is a very good coach who's able to communicate with the players

After the Collingwood win, people were getting on the Carlton bandwagon and off the Roos bandwagon about who would make the eight. Seven days later that all changes. Hence, it could all change again

Fact is we have the youngest team in the comp and the boys are still learning to play with each other and be consistent, thus anything is possible. Best hope would be that we made the eight, but is unlikely

Who really expected to make the 8 this season?
Considering where this team has been the late few seasons, anything more than 6 wins would be looked upon as a bonus.

Pretty confident that the Blues will be a finals contender pushing for Top4 within the next 3 years.

Carlton won't make the 8.
We have come a long way this year compared to the last few years & younger players are getting more experience.
We lost to Essendon but came back from over 40 points behind to almost snatch it. To come back from behind Port, Collingwood & Essendon means the players have a belief that they are capable & can win games from anywhere. Two years ago we would have collapsed to an 80 - 100 point loss.
Why get hung up on missing the 8 this year when we are so much improved & will get better next year.

Lame? I didnt read about this?

Just a suspicion. Juud concussed, Carrazzo concussed at half time.......why would AB only play half the game, when he has been one of our best for the past 8 weeks, AND we were getting smashed out of the middle...........the only thing that makes sense was that he may have been carrying something, or did an injury early.........that's all.;)

Carlton have come a long way from last year even a neutral supporter like myself can take note. A team with so many inexperienced young players has these rollercoaster seasons which compromise of Huge highs 2x Collingwood victories and the Port comeback win.. to expected low's points such as the Essendon game on the weekend and round 3.

It might not be a bad year to challenge for the flag in 2010-2011 noone is gonna get close to Geelong in the meantime anyways.

Spot on.

Landing a Joel Selwood who is as talented as any of the other kids taken before him would be a boon when we have so many young players. You don't go from being a poor team with three PP to a top eight side and a contender over night because you added Judd. The Pies went up after getting a PP in 2005, but they had a lot of injuries and tanked to add Thomas and Pendlebury to their squad.

There were still alot of positive to be taken out of the loss when we fought back to hit the front and didn't roll over like we have in the past. Kreuzer will have a game like Hille's in two to three years when the Bombers will be the side struggling to handle a Hille-Laycock duo in Kreuzer-Hampson.

But the Carlton due will be alot better with their superior mobility, agility and speed.

Good positive thinking, there is a chance we could make it to the finals but you got to admit, its kind of unlikely.
