Thought it was v sloppy.. not at all what we needed running into the bye and then finals..

Can't really think of many positives other than first game I can remember in a while that didn't result in a long injury list..

Defence looks down right bad without fletch.. heaven help us if he gets injured b4 finals.

**** off. Did what we had to do to win a dead rubber against a desparate opposition trying to save their spot on the list. Massive last quarter showed the nuts needed to win, like a good team does. No injuries, all good.

Yep great hitout for the finals. I was worried that we would be playing witches hats today. Glad Port came to play. Good fight in the last quarter, they should take some good momentum from that. :thumbsu:

Was expecting a thread like this. Relax, it was a really good lead up to finals. A hard fought game with no injuries. Getting half a game into hooker and collier. Plus no player really stared. Thanks port, plus hocking and fletch in for nlm and welsh... Easy selection.
I'd rather this than a easy drubbing.

It was pretty awful but, no serious injuries (that I know of) is a massive positive. Also no incidents that I think we will get someone suspended for (again touchwood). Also Pears/Hooker were way underdone and I would think that both will be better for the run. Welsh/NLM will probably lose their spot/become Sub as they were both pretty useless and not for the first time this year. A week off will be great for some of the young boys. Also Hocking/Fletcher will make a big difference and then who knows from there.
So I don't think all is lost, just a pretty flat effort in a dead rubber game.

at least on a positive note......

we know EXACTLEY who we are playing in our first final... So we should hire a box at the carlton game next weekend, get the whole team up there, and the coaches - and have it like a school lesson.....

pick their game apart, their plans, their structures. Rather than sitting in the crowd tucking into pies like browns cows we should really use the week off to put all our attentions into their game to see what we can do about beating them. Just like a video tape review session but live in the flesh.

rest up boys - the time to beat the filth is nearly upon us.

Cometh the hour....

Exactly. Much better than a regulation 10 goal thrashing. We had to dig deep, and came back from 32 points down halfway through the last. Exactly what a good team should do. And no injuries, gold! Well done Port, better luck next time ****ers

Exactly. Obviously not switched on for most of the game with nothing really to gain and a bye next week but when the game was slipping away we managed to steal a win.

I think if we had of thrashed Port then it may have drawn the team and supporters into a false sense of security.

Agree.

I'll add Subiaco to our sluggishness.

Great idea, but can they still eat pies?

still can't believe you guys are putting a positive spin on this game. we turned up half way through the last quarter. it was abysmal, disgraceful and against any other team we would have lost.

although we did the impossible - we played Port back into form

sorry.. I'm not looking at the big picture? the big picture is we're gonna get slaughtered in the finals. don't care who calls me a negative nancy, I'm commenting on the game we played and what's gonna happen.

Jimmy wasn't happy

So! how many of you guys turned up? I must say that it showed a lot of heart to come back from 32 points down well after the 14 minute mark, and The Power looked like steamrolling us. Then David Hille lifted, our guys really put the pressure on and ran like crazy monks, and fought back.

Think of it this way: they didn't accept defeat when it was staring them in the face.

Jimmy wasn't happy, and I think he roasted them after they sang the song. I don't know how the boys will take Carlton, but it won't be as slow as start as today.

I'll take that win any day over a capitulation.

Having some time to cool down there really was some factors to why we were so poor:

1. Hot Subiaco match last week with players down meaning less rotations.
2. Dead rubber, nothing to play for except self pride
3. Hooker, Pears and Welsh seriously under done
4. Hocking out, we don't have the midfield depth to cover him ATM.

Colyer, Welsh, Pears and Hooker must play next week.
