Worth a late pick/rookie selection? Have you heard how he is progressing since the knockout (form at Sturt?). You were a reasonable wrap for him at the 2004 draft, do you think there's a chance he can get back on track or is it not worth the risk at this stage?

I did indeed think that he was a good talent, comparable to Monfries. As you say his form post K/O has apparantly been rubbish and Port has cut him (or more accurately not given him a new contract). I would have thought that he would the type you'd watch for a year or two in the SANFL and if he can prove himself could be a good mature pick.

What about that Rischbeith chap Port delisted. I recall seeing his name at draft time a year or 2 back and thought he was going to be good... ?

King of the Beep Test if I remember correctly

Does anyone have a link to the video on youtube or anything? I really cannot remember him getting KO'd?

All i heard was that he looked very good in his first few games but lost it a bit after that...

Eckermann played 10 SANFL Senior games for 119 Disposals, 18 Marks and 1 goal. No times in the best players. Played 9 reserves games for 8 goals and no times in the best players. Couldnt manage any more than 4 games in the Seniors in a row this year.

Its down from 16 matches, 240 Disposals, 44 marks, 4 goals, 4 best players last year.

Rischbeith played 8 senior games for 98 disposals, 36 marks, 1 goal and 2 times in the best players. Played 11 reserves games for 4 goals and 4 times in the best players. Played predominantly in defence - 3rd tall/flank role.

Did he show anything Macca? His results at draft camp in the beep test and the time trial were off the chart from memory. I believe Miller may have had him on the Tigers shortlist for a late pick at one stage.

Definately ultra fit. Saw him doing some time trials at training a couple of times and finished half an oval in front of almost everyone else.

EDIT: Ive probably been a bit harsh on him. Its hard to tell because he was playing in a side that was getting thrashed every week (Sturt lost 4 games in 5 weeks by over 100 points, and the other game they lost by 98 points).

He showed glimpses, but definately not much to suggest he'll play in the next two years in my opinion.

Eckerman recently disovered he for a while needed a helmet to play with and that was affecting helping him... he might be worth a bit of time on a clubs rookie list (maybe 12 months) to see what will happen

i was surprised and sadden that Rischbeith was cut from the Powers squad and i though the could have stayed their for at least another 12 months .. i also think he was cut from the squad because of 2 things .. and that is .. the strenght of this draft and our position . in this draft

both would be worth a punt from a team in the top 6

That's a pretty good assesment on Eckermann. Could turn out be in a similar mould of player to Josh Mahoney. I'm sure the recruiters spotters will keep an eye on him in the SANFL

Yer Eckermann b4 he got knocked out was a really good kid, I liked him a lot, good potential but afterward he just isn't the same player. Sad really...just hasn't even looked like stamping his authority on the game.

Rischbeith is stiff in my book. He played some very solid games for both the ressies and the league side, ran his opponents ragged, strong marking and kicked odd goal. Backed his athletic ability and created many an attack. Certainly plenty to offer, he thrives on experience. He would be worth another shot IMO.
